As training comes to a close, @sirunningalways and I have been having discussions about Impostor Syndrome: The persistent inability to believe that one’s success is deserved or has been legitimately achieved of one’s own efforts or skills. ———We’ve both experienced this feeling... that we are undeserving, that success was a fluke, an accident and not likely to be repeated. — BUT the physical work HAS been done... the miles HAVE been logged, the time on feet HAS been tracked... now all that’s left is BELIEVING. None of the “... if it’s a good day” but rather “It’s going to be a great day! No matter what the outcome” This isn’t a simple or easy shift in thinking, and believing in oneself isn’t a switch that can just be turned on at will. It takes practice, persistence and faith. From today right through race day, through the dark patches, phantom stress fractures 😉, random aches, pains, the moments of WHY WHY WHY do I do this to myself, the only words I will accept from myself will be the ones @fastfoodie gifted me with before Canyons 100k “I know you have everything you need within you to do whatever it takes to get to that finish line. I believe in you.” Except instead of her saying those words to me, I’ll be saying them to myself. And believing them. Not only do I have the ability to get to the finish line, I have it in me to run this distance faster than I have before. I have the ability to finish STRONG. I’ve worked hard for this. The finish I get I will have earned. A good day won’t be a fluke and a less than ideal day will not define me. #letsdothisthing 💪 🏁#jj100k

  • I absolutely LOVE being a mum and giving my all to her happines and growth. But in order for me to be the best mum I can, I have to make sure I am still doing the things that give me energy, that make my heart shine and that keep me connected to who I am and most of all the outdoors. 🌳
.
So, when my soul sister @angeliquetostee asked me to run The Hume & Hovell Ultra with her I said YES. I was super scared and had a huge amount of guilt for doing something for myself, but I knew I needed this for my own wellbeing and to remind myself I can do it, even as a mum 👍
.
Finishing the race hand in hand with my munchkin and hearing her laughter was the best feeling ever and I hope one day she will go after her dreams and goals because I have given her the belief and proof she can do anything. I now run for her 💗

  • This is Point Raging Chihuahua ... it is right below Ontario Peak. Rocky and I visit occasionally and it feels as though when we visit, we happen to need it most. It is the resting place for Rocky’s Dad, a beautiful memorial that he dedicated to him almost 4 years ago.
It’s always so emotional for the two of us. I find myself crying the second I see him lose himself. It’s an emotional connection that I can’t put into words. We often post of happy moments, of triumphs, of success, and happiness. We try very hard to keep positive and to be optimistic, but the truth is we’re human and life is not always picture perfect. When we visit Rocky’s Dad we can let go and we can express our sadness, frustrations, fears, and struggles. We somehow find answers and make peace with what we’re struggling with. More often than not, it’s life struggles, our kids, our family, loved ones, issues that do affect us all. The mountains are sacred to us, they are our true home. And so it feels special to get so much from one tiny corner on earth. 🙏
On a very positive note, we did get to share with his Dad that we have been strong and committed to being sober. We both feel that we don’t miss it at all and we feel happy about making the commitment. We’re both far more energetic and feel strong. I’m the most proud of us. Most happy that as our leader, Rocky is being positive and supportive in our journey.
I share this very humbly, and if you do visit Ontario Peak, I welcome you to make a stop by, the view is spectacular and we’d love for others to visit too.

Two straight days of running local land. More new terrain and sights. Today it was Lake Ann and Lake Bonita Loop via Spier Falls Rd. Rain made it special 👌🏻. Upon return to my truck it subsided and gave me a wink above the ridge West of the Hudson (pic 1). Soaked but plenty warm.
•
Managed to see some Eagle Scout work in progress among other things✌🏻. Don’t always stop for snaps 📸 along the journey. All depends on the focus and feels. Enjoyed this one.

  • Another day. Another fire. Another loop. Nine are left into loop 38. Everyone is equal first at the end of each loop at Big Dog's Backyard Ultra. Best of luck to @do_your_impossible and the rest of the contenders out on the night loops.

I am one because this word was never in my vocabulary until today for my first 50k Trail Race, and I survived! Official Chip time was 6:29:25 which landed me 64th out of 135 (I think), and 5th for my AG. New PR!!🙌🏼
•
Hard AF Race because of last week’s R2R for me and, the trail was basically a mowed-out path used by the horse community. Soft terrain, 3 over-your-shoe mud-marshes for each lap, and hillz. 3, 10-ish mile laps. It was a fucking blast! Thanks @irunwithgoatz for a fantastic day! You guys absolutely rock and know how to put on a super-casual & fun race!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
•
Shout-out to my running coach, Christy Nielsen, for “making” me do the workouts & run all the miles because she got me ready for this race. 🙏🏼
•
Made a new friend today who befriended me in the porta-potty line (you can’t make this shit up @namastebynature) who helped me navigate the trials, tribulations, and mud. The muddy marsh was cold. And yet oddly fun because it brought back great memories of when I was a kid!
•
Here’s a pic of the trail in its best condition (pic 3). Yeah, just use imagination after for the rest of the 10 mile laps, and my feet are sooo sore.
•
These trophies are the best I’ve ever seen because like the medal, they’re made out of wood. So cool and unique.

They said, “Jim, had you set your sites much much lower, you could’ve won this trophy!” Me: “What’s DFL?” Them: “Dead Fuckin’ Last”

  • Great time at Brick City Homecoming weekend. Ran the brick city 5 again this year. Not super thrilled with my time but couldn't beat the weather or a $10 entry fee. Not the greatest pics during the race but I won't make fun of my mom too much 😀 as she had to figure out when we were coming and babysit. She still managed to capture me waving to my little girl.

It was also baby's first hockey game and the Tigers skated to an easy win.

Meus patrocinadores: @hidrolight, @columbiabrasil, @aktionpaz e @madibrasil, obrigada sempre, tamo junto! 🚀❤️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2nd place yesterday.
