  • Woke up in my 40TH country. MILESTONES. MILESTONES. The journey has been beautiful. Transformative. I feel good. I feel more confident. I’ve met people. I’ve met myself. I’ve met the world. It started from that flight to Toronto. And then there was another. And another. And another. I have no country goal count but my promise to myself is this - I will always catch at least one more flight. One more flight. That’s it!
Thank you to all of you who follow my journey, cheer me on, support me in this (sometimes crazy) journey. I appreciate you and I hope you are inspired to catch at least one more flight. Trust me, it’d be worth it. Thank you. Thank you. ❤️

  • What’s the weather like where you are today?
____
It’s almost a month until winter technically begins, but if you’re in NY and neighboring states, today definitely feels like a winter day🥶 I’ll never be a fan of winter, and I rarely go to cold destinations(but I’ll be the first one to sign up for a trip to the Antarctica! Only continent I haven’t trekked yet) but I know some of you enjoy cold destinations and if that’s you, then a winter trip to Banff has your name all over it so be on the look out for my blog!
______
I was recently there in September, so I thought it’d still be warm-ish, but Mother Nature decided to skip autumn in Banff and go straight to winter- I’m talking, snow, sleet and hail in the same day!😳😱 The weather conditions get so bad, that one of these lakes is closed during the winter season! Find out which one next week or feel free to guess from the pictures.
_____
If all this cold talk of off putting, and you prefer warmer destinations, then click the link in my bio for my latest piece on Puerto Rico and three beaches to visit whilst there. Drop any questions below, and if you need trip planning, email or DM me😀☀️ .

  • Country #5 / #Angola / Angola at the beginning of the 21st century was a country ravaged by war and the related effects of land mines and malnutrition, and it was often dependent on the international community for the basics of survival. It is a country that is nevertheless rich in natural resources, including precious gems, metals, and petroleum; indeed, it ranks among the highest of the oil-producing countries in sub-Saharan Africa. It is the largest and wealthiest of the Portuguese-speaking African states, and Portuguese influences have been felt for some 500 years, although Angola acquired its present boundaries only in 1891. An anticolonial struggle that began in 1961 finally led to independence in 1975.

In “We Must Return,” a poem he wrote from prison in 1956, the Angolan poet Agostinho Neto, who was also the country’s first president, described Angola as “red with coffee / white with cotton / green with maize” and as “our land, our mother.” Unfortunately, Neto’s happiness with a “liberated Angola—Angola independent” did not last long, and a civil war that went on 27 years left much of the country in ruins. Beginning in 2002, however, with the ending of the war, Angola had more hope for a peaceful future than it had in the previous quarter century. / #travelisthenewclub

  • How far is too far to go? How much is too much of a change for your life?

We have family in town, and when they arrived, they remarked that this was a jungle at the end of a long road - in terrible condition - far from everywhere.

Then we shared dinner and heard the sound of the surf, and I was so grateful to show them our new home, because of how well it fits us and how it feels to have made this vision into a reality for us.

It seems very far away, but it’s just right for us. You might experience something similar in your life, maybe not about moving or travel, but where you hear people saying you’re “doing too much,” or have a dream or life goal that is too far out of reach.

We felt that feeling ourselves even after we arrived - “this is crazy,” we thought. “We are turning our lives upside down for a dream.” Who does this?

But we stuck with the plan, believing in our work and the power of our vision, and now we are here, even more confident that the entire point of dreaming up a big, scary, audacious, inspiring vision is to push the limits of what life can be.

Then the fun part is taking the steps to make it happen, watching all the little bits come together.

If this is something you want to do as a couple, tap the link in bio or DM us to connect. Maybe we can help!

For anyone planning to visit Machu Picchu, save this post for future reference!! If you're not, then you can just enjoy the visual and stop reading here because it's a long one! (Ollantaytambo, Peru)
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
************
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Visiting my last ancient world wonder was no cheap feat. Of course, there are less expensive ways to arrive to the citadel but I prefer speed and efficiency so I can maximize my trip. Here's the breakdown of how I did it and what it costed me in USD.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
I flew into Cusco airport and took a $30 Uber to Ollantaytambo so I could use that as a base. The town itself has some Inca sites to explore but I opted not to. I just wanted to be close enough to the @qhispikay.glamping site and the train station.
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Everything about your visit is pretty much time stamped. I suggest you book online in advance so you can choose the best train times for you before they get sold out (because they will). There are two trains you can take; PeruRail and Inca Rail. They offer slightly different times so it gives you a bit more options which is good. My train ride there was $104 (higher class) and coming back was $81 (slightly lower class). You ABSOLUTELY MUST have your passport on hand to board the train. Don't forget this!
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
After the 1.5-2h train ride, you'll arrive at the base of Machu Picchu in a town called Aguas Calientes. From here, I met my English speaking guide ($70 for groups up to 8 people) and he led me to where I needed to catch the bus ($32 round trip) for a very twisty but epic ride up to the entrance of Machu Picchu. Once there, the only restrooms are outside of the entrance. There are no in and out privileges on a basic ticket ($65) so refresh yourself before you go inside. I recommend purchasing a ticket to have lunch at the buffet once you're done exploring ($26). The food was very good!
⠀⠀⠀ ⠀
Lastly, you have to be VERY mindful of the time you leave Machu Picchu because the line up to catch the bus to go back down can be like a mile long. I waited just over an hour just to get onto the bus to ultimately catch my train back. Total cost with the train can easily be $350-$400. I hope you found this helpful!

  • The only photo you’ll get of me social dancing. I literally only came out to dance with the person in the photo and one other person. Sometimes you need to seek comfort in the arms of the people you know from home. Those dances were some of the happiest moments I’ve had since being back in Spain for a bit. I’m heading back to Portugal soon. I need my Forró fix.

Website Review Category: Affordability — “I Loved Loved Loved Iceland I had a really great experience. I will admit it is Super Expensive! I traveled with 3 other people and we had a great time but it seemed like everything we did cost $200 no exaggeration. The taxi from the airport in Reykjavik to the city where our hotel was cost us $200 then the ride from our Hotel to the blue Lagoon was $200. The excursions we did were pretty expensive about $100-$150 per person. We did... but fun and exciting. You have to dress warm. The food on average was cost...The blue lagoon is Beautiful looks just like the photos I will admit. My cousin and I got... They give you this foam soap when...We also did a ATV tour in Iceland which....Just make sure you pick a hotel with good....” [FULL REVIEW AT WEWORKTOTRAVEL.COM]

  • I FINALLY made it to my destination...only 15 hours later than expected. Mother nature had her own plans. Check out my Instastory or China highlights for more!

But who doesn't love a beautiful hotel? Oh, is it just me? Well the JW Marriott Shenzhen doesn't disappoint.
Comfort, Accessibility and technology all in one. @marriottintl did a great job on this @jwmarriotthotels property!

Note: There are two JW Marriotts in the area. This one where I am staying as well as @jwmarriott_shenzhenbaoan_china.

  • Story time!!!! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
I have a nose for finding local happenings when I’m traveling 😬. The girls and I are chilling in the @mca_australia cafe. I’m scanning the museum program and what do I spot?... a note that there’s a Tequila @patron pop-up bar opening later that night. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
Naturally, we head over and it’s the cutest little thing. All it needed was little fire pits or heaters, but I digress. ::Insert photo shoot montage::
••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
A bartender tells us there’s a challenge to accept! If we visit all 4 participating bars, we would be rewarded with a free Patrón ceramic mug. Did we accept? Of course we did! The catch —- (1) it was Thursday at 8:30pm; (2) we had an all day excursion on Friday; (3) we were leaving Saturday morning; and (4) we had to return to the pop-up bar to show all 4 collected coasters before they closed at 10:00pm. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
So what’s a girl to do? Speed through Sydney CBD to collect those coasters in under 90 mins! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••

So what’s a girl to do? Speed through Sydney CBD to collect those coasters in under 90 mins! ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••
