I hate to get obsessed with numbers on Instagram, but I’ve been happy to see that my past few posts of historical buildings in Korea have been doing so well. Sometimes I feel like Instagram caters towards stylized urban shots, so I’m glad there’s still a place for some beautiful old buildings.
And big shout out to my partner in crime this past weekend. It’s always more fun traveling with you!
Hongdo Island, you might be the only foreigner on the island...
It was quite a long trek getting there but was totally worth it in the end... 😊
Known to be one of the most beautiful remote islands in the Dadohaehaesang National Park, which is the largest national park in Korea, expands across seven coastal areas in the South and West sea.
The rocky, diminutive (6.47 square kilometers) Hongdo, with its killer sunrises (which I didn’t get to see because we only had few hours on the island) and wealth of peculiar rock formations, has been likened to a flower floating on the water.
Named for the crimson light that envelops the entire island at sunset (hong is Korean for "crimson") I hiked up about half way to the summit of Gitdaebong mountain, for this gorgeous view led straight up by nice wooden staircase only took me about 20 minutes for the 650ft climb. I’ll have to hike the rest (summit at 1,200ft) next time. #hongdo#explorekorea#travelkorea#travelphotography

1. Para driver ini suka menolak org asing secara mrka gbs bhsa Inggris kan.. naah caranya biar gak dihempas manjyah, kita siapin deh arah tujuan kita yg bertuliskan Hangul (host airbnb gw menyarankan pake Kakao Map semacam Google Map gt, tp bhsanya Korea campur Romaji).
3. Kalo jaraknya terlalu deket, siap2 aja utk dihempas manjyah lagi 😂 jadi kalo jaraknya emang bisa ditempuh dgn jalan kaki, ya mending jalan aja deeh. Harap bersabar, ini ujian! 😂
Jadi, baek2 sama pak polisi yah 😁
5. Tarif taxi sendiri cukup terjangkau (dibandingkan Jepang). Utk taxi oren kayak gni itungannya taxi reguler, tarif dasarnya 3.000 won (sekitar 40rb). Setiap 140 meter naik 100 Won. Kalo di Jepang, tarif dasarnya 600 Yen alias 80rb! 🙄

Want to know the best place to go for #banchan (Korean side dishes)? You’ll have to go to the #Jeollanamdo Province.
South Jeolla Province is traditionally regarded as the most famous of all the provinces for their food. The land there produced the best tasting rice 🍚 and vegetables 🥬. It also has ready access to the Yellow Sea for fresh seafood 🐙. Because of this blessing of the agricultural gods, the area’s culinary culture naturally became the most developed 👩🍳. It’s most famous foods are #bibimbap#tteokgalbi (grilled #shortrib patties) #gejang (soy braised raw crab) #sannakji (freshly cut octopus legs in sesame oil) and of course all the side dishes. .
But many Koreans say if you go to random restaurants and pay 5,000 won for #rice and banchan, it’ll be the best meal you ever have! . . 📸: @gyopokeith

Gangwon is a mountainous, forested province in northeast South Korea. Ski resorts, Yongpyong and Alpensia, in the county of Pyeongchang are host sites of the 2018 Winter Olympics. In the east, Seoraksan National Park has mountainside temples and hot springs. Odaesan National Park's gentle slopes lead to the Stone Seated Buddha, while the steep cliffs of Chiaksan National Park offer more challenging trails.
After enjoying the cherry blossoms and Cheonjiyeon Waterfall in Seogwipo, a walk around Saeseom Island at sunset was a great way to wrap up the day. The island was named for its abundance of silvergrass, used to make thatched roofs. The cable-stayed Saeyeon-gyo bridge connecting the island to Seogwipo was designed to look like the traditional log boats of Jeju, but I must confess it reminded me of the Burj Al Arab in Dubai.
My photographer @zeldahope3 was great at giving me direction during this shoot, which was in celebration of my birthday. I’m not sure if this was supposed to be my sexy walk or confident walk or kid-in-a-candy-store walk, but they’re pretty much all the same anyway soooo 🤷🏾♀️ #nailedit !
