  • ‘If you see a castle under fog, you must walk there to meet the extraordinary dreams!’ — Mehmet Murat Ildan. •

Arguably one of the most beautifully romantic castles in Scotland, don’t you agree? Seeing it in the spring-time was extra special as it was surrounded by cherry blossoms and flowers were coming into bloom for the year. What is your favourite castle, and have you ever managed to visit? Mines has to be Hohenzollern Castle. German castles have that extra oomph about them! They’re always so grand, spiky and nestled away in a deep forest. •

Happy Sunday, you lovely bunch. Hope it’s been a fun-filled weekend with the Edinburgh pride and Summer Solstice events being on! 🌈 #visitscotland

  • “Just do it! … and say a little prayer.” — Lugene Hessler Hammond.
•
When I saw this simple yet effective quote, I thought it applied to this photo and our experience in Quiraing as succinctly and accurately as ever. Driving up it in a VW campervan was not easy, and once we got to the final hill until the car park (the steepest, sharpest, most pothole-riddled corner EVER) the van stalled and we started to roll backwards towards the cliff’s edge. I braked and ripped the handbrake on, my face clammy and red from complete fear, and I screamed to Dan “that’s it: we’re going back down. I can’t do this!” However, after a minute of breathing and pep-talking, I miraculously managed to find some kind of courage to try again. I paced myself and I put together a routine of manoeuvres in my head and voila: we got to the top of Quiraing alive and well enough to enjoy this beautiful viewpoint. •

Totally worth it... 😂

Have you ever had a gut-wrenching experience like this; and was it worth it?

  • ‘We will have a total chaos without books, literature, and library.’ — Anne Waldman.
•
I’ve been mesmerised by many libraries’ interiors and whimsy, but I’d never felt this way about about their exterior. That was until I visited Lichfield (out of sheer chance by the way). Does this library/museum make you feel curious, like it’s out of a movie? There’s something cartoonish about it, maybe a certain @accidentallywesanderson feel to it. I can’t quite put my finger on it. Any ideas? Please tell me in the comments! •

Also, has anyone else ever visited Lichfield? We never intended to, but it was pleasant surprise ❤️

  • [ad] — ‘Anybody can be good in the country. There are no temptations there.’ — Oscar Wilde.
•
We knew this hotel was meant to be when they had a sign outside reception stating ‘a home without a dog is just a house’ with an icon of a dachshund on it (you can vaguely see it in this picture) and wisteria framing the door. Hamish definitely enjoyed being a country mouse for the bank holiday weekend at @widbrook.grange - they treated him like royalty and he got to run riot round the gardens every morning. •

Our first impression of this adorable little hotel was one of whimsy and serenity. The best part is that it’s situated in the underrated town of Bradford-on-Avon and is 20 minutes away from Bath by car. Is this your idea of heaven? #widbrookgrange
