  • Hiding my boob sweat like a champ! 💪🏼😂
.
.
We pretty much refuse to take any mode of transportation if we can avoid it, on our trips. And while I absolutely LOVE being able to walk everywhere + take in all of the details, I HIGHLY recommend wearing a bra + not being so concerned about how it will look in your photos. 👙 I promise the boob sweat is way less attractive! 😂🤦🏼‍♀️

📸: My champion husband who feeds me + puts up with me, even when I’m being rude because I have to pee. 😂😂😂 @petesouvall 😘

  • Travel Tip: Always pack a napkin/towel/wipe/hand sanitizer
While walking around Antigua, I got a nice little present from TWO different birds. That's one way of ruining your day exploring a new city right? Well, thankfully I had wipes and hand sanitizer! You might get called the "mom" of the group but hey that's okay!

  • This is what my girl squad looked like a year ago. Now there's another babe on my hip and our adventures as a family of 5 are just getting started.

I'm curious to know, what are your biggest fears and anxieties about traveling with your kids or even on your own? I've noticed that I personally tend to build up a lot of worse case scenarios in my head before we go anywhere, and I agonize over everything that might go wrong, but in the end it always works out. Even the rough parts don't end up being as bad as I imagined they could be. Instead I end up finding that the experiences we have on our trips overcome the worry I had about the cost of a trip, how many baby related things I'd have to pack, and what inevitable child meltdowns would happen. The memories we make when we travel together are far more precious. || #akindredquest

  • Roadtrippin✌🏼Said buh-bye to LA’s June gloom and made it to the perfectly sunny 100 degree desert this morning. Brb I’ll be in the pool, hands full with kids and drinks☀️🍹🌴
.
.
Pro tip: always pack a separate beach bag with everyone’s suits, sunscreens, floaties, sandals, snacks etc so when the room is inevitably not ready when you arrive, you head straight to the pool bathroom.👌🏻

  • Do you follow a tourist checklist?? ⠀
⠀
Traveling has become so much more common (although I still consider it a luxury) and I feel like people often go places and do things just to take a picture and say they did it. I feel like I’ve probably been guilty of this at times too, although I try to avoid it. ⠀
⠀
Crowded tourist sites don’t make you love a place and I WANT to fall in love with the places I go to. For example, I can’t stand the Colosseum. It’s definitely one of my least favorite places and I think it’s way more impressive on the outside. Yet, everyone feels like they should go and whenever I mention Rome, the first question I get is always “Did you see the Colosseum?” ⠀
⠀
It’s hard to avoid the pressure to go certain places, especially your first time in a city, but sometimes you’ll create a better memory by just wandering around or doing a more “unusual” activity. Make your own path!! It’s harder, but worth it in my opinion

  • If you travel often, what do you do to prepare for it? 🤔⁣
⁣
I'm definitely no expert when it comes to traveling, but I've found myself hopping on flights or long car rides more frequently the past year - and it seems to only be getting more frequent. ✈️⁣
⁣
No complaints here - but, I wouldn’t mind a few of those trips being to more exotic locations!⁣
⁣
Traveling can take a toll on your body (and occasionally your mental and emotional state, too), so I've started to do a few things that have really helped me have a better experience.⁣
⁣
📝Travel prep:⁣
* Increase water intake before: if I'm traveling at night, I make sure I drink plenty of water throughout the day. If I have an early flight, I drink plenty of water the afternoon/evening before, more in the morning and limit coffee. ⁣
* Get in a workout: I get in a good strength training workout the night or day before⁣
* Yoga and adjustment session: Before I leave for the airport or hop in the car for a long drive, I do a 20-30 minute yoga/stretching session, really focusing on my hips and upper back. These are the areas that tend to suffer the most when sitting for long periods of time. I also get an adjustment from my chiropractor.⁣
* Before leaving, I check to make sure I have my wallet, license, phone, keys (if needed) and my packed bags.⁣
* If we're both traveling, I make sure everything in the house is turned off - lights, machines, appliances - doors are locked, shades are closed, and AC is turned off before walking out the door.⁣
⁣
I have a whole list of packing tips I’ll share later too! Do you have any other tips for making travel easier? Let me know in the comments! 👇🏼

  • Me: “I want to travel more”
My bank account: “like... to the park?” 😪
•
•
•
But on a real note, I absolutely love traveling. Waking up in a new place and being able to experience new cultures, new sights, new foods, and new life is one of the greatest things, I think.
I have been so blessed to have been where I’ve been and explored the places I have. But trust me, none of those trips “just happened.” They were planned,
They were saved up for,
They were the reason for eating ramen every night or miss a week of groceries.
And they were worth it. ✨One day I’ll get to the point where my bank account doesn’t have a tiny bit of anxiety when I plan my trips. But in the mean time, I’m grinding extra hard and enjoying the opportunities I do have so that my future self will thank me when I’m across the world, sitting on a beach or hiking through jungles w/ monkeys next to me.✨ ✨Do things now, make little improvements now, take seemingly big risks now, so your future self can thank you for it. ✨

  • According to a @travelguard poll 47% of travel advisors surveyed noted their clients greatest concern when traveling alone as encountering a dangerous situation without a travel companion to help.
•
10 years ago I went on my first solo trip to Florence. I’d been swamped before I left so I, the ultimate planner had planned nothing for my trip. I hadn’t booked a train ticket, hotel, or tour. Luckily a classmate loaned me a @ricksteveseurope book, so I had a resource handy, but no reservations.
•
This also happened to be around the time that the movie Taken came out. So, right before I leave New Orleans I get a call from my mom that goes like this:
Mom: So your dad and I just saw Taken
Me: Ok, I haven’t seen it yet
Mom: Well, we think you should watch it before you go
Me: I don’t have time, I leave in 2 days
Dad: We can tell you what it’s about but you should really see it so you can be prepared
Me: For what? To be taken or not taken!?!!
•
I did not go see Taken in the 48 hours I had before my trip but I did follow tips that I’d gotten from other solo travelers and of course the all knowing Rick Steves.
•
1. Check the State Department website to see if there are any advisories for the area you’re traveling to. You can also enroll in the Smart Traveler program which allows the government to email you about potential problems.
2. Know how to call your destinations version of 911. In Italy it’s 113, but it varies by country so know the number, and get a SIM card when you land so you can actually make calls.
3. Give a copy of your full itinerary to family or friends. It helps them worry less, plus for some reason if you lose your documents or can’t access email you can call and have them give you the necessary info.
4. Know key phrases in the country’s language. You should know the basics just to be a respectful traveler but also print a cheat sheet of emergency phrases so that you can either ask for help or point to the phrase on the paper.
5. Keep you passport in the locked safe in your hotel & keep a paper copy on you. If you’re staying in an Airbnb bring a lock for your suitcase & lock your passport in it.

  • What travel tricks do you have up your sleeve?
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m sharing mine on the @todayshow on Monday!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Join me on June 17th 4th hour with @hodaandjenna for the latest Summer Travel Essentials that will help save you time and energy on your next journey!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Those who know me, know I always have a bag pre-packed! I travel often and never shy taking my littles along for the ride, who’ve each had passports before they could hold up their heads!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I once took Fi to Japan by myself before she was on year old. And if I may say so, the business man across the aisle behaved far, far worse than she did!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And Ro perfectly well on take off, got completely sick on a flight when I was solo traveling on the red-eye with the kids, and thanks to spare clothes for both of us on my carryon we got through it as if those bathrooms were MADE for Wonder Woman clothing changes!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
So whether you are headed to the beach, hopping on a plane, checking into a hotel…or camping in your backyard…join me Monday and let’s just see how I can help!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
What was your WORST travel story that you survived due to your best travel save-me?

  • ☀ CHOOSING SAFE SUNSCREEN: PART ONE☀
.
My heart is SO burdened to help you navigate choosing a safer sunscreen with CONFIDENCE! I've put together this 5 part series based on my experience over the years with identifying the biggest 🚩"Red Flags"🚩that I see in the not-so-safe versions and the 🧐"Clues"🧐 to look for in the safer choices!
.
➡️ ACTIVE INGREDIENTS: The very first thing that I look for when I turn around a bottle of sunscreen is the active ingredient (this will be located at the top of the back of the bottle and is usually in a box, under the "Drug Facts").
.
You want to find a 👉👉MINERAL👈👈 sunscreen vs. a 🚫chemical🚫 sunscreen.
.
WHAT you should be looking for:
👍 ZINC OXIDE (non-nano zinc)
👍 TITANIUM DIOXODE
👍 AVOBENZONE
.
What should you avoid?
👎 oxybenzone (banned in Hawaii as it's killing/bleaching the coral reefs)
👎 octinoxate (octyl methoxycinnamate)
👎 homosalate
👎 octisalate
👎 octocrylene
.
There are MANY more factors that go into finding a safer sunscreen option for you & your family, but if you can remember those top 3 active ingredients to look for, you've navigated the FIRST and most important of the five key steps!
.
Part TWO coming soon! Is this helpful? I'd be just thrilled if you shared this with someone in your life that you love and care about! There *may* be some kind of a GIVEAWAY at the end of the series that you won't want to miss either😜!
.
My DREAM would be to go to EVERY pool, beach and anywhere families are gathering outdoors for the summer with an endless supply of safer sunscreen to GIFT to EVERYONE. While that isn't an option for me right now, I DO believe that arming YOU with information that you can apply to the purchasing power you have as a consumer is even MORE powerful in the long run!
.
