You know those situations where everyone is telling you not to do something, but you find yourself making the decision to #treatyoself . Or the time you tell your husband this is happening on Mother’s Day, so he can’t refuse you? Or that time you name him first and ask for forgiveness later?
In case our world needed any more crazy, we just added it. Introducing the newest member of the Dorr Party, Feddy (short for Federer). Jake claims his name is Jalen. I guess I’ll let him use it as a middle name. He has also bargained with me to call him Federer in the spring and summer and Jalen in the fall and winter, but that’s going to be a strong no on my end. Regardless, we are so in love and because I posted it, his name is officially in print. Sorry, Jake.
This is basically an unofficial @jenisicecreams account now. 🙃 Dark Chocolate Truffle (DF), Gooey Butter Cake (can’t resist even though it’s not DF), and Frosé. 🍫🍰🍧 [Design District, CLT, NC]

Chocolate chip cookies by @emerson_cooks 🍪
1/2 cup vegan butter (nuttelex)⠀
1/2 cup maple syrup ⠀
1/2 cup coconut sugar ⠀
3 tbsp aquafaba (chickpea brine)⠀
1 tsp vanilla ⠀
1 cup spelt or buckwheat flour ⠀
1/2 cup chickpea flour ⠀
1/2 tsp baking soda ⠀
1 cup dark choc chips (plus extra for topping) ⠀
How To Make:
Add all ingredients except the chocolate into a bowl and mix with an electric beater for 2 minutes! Stir through the choc chips. Prepare a lined baking tray and preheat oven to 170c. Spoon out 2 tbsp balls (best to use an icecream scoop) onto the baking tray, leaving 5cm between each cookie (they spread!). Now, place the tray in the fridge for 20 minutes for the dough to slightly firm up (this is optional, but helps define the ripples/ dents on the outer #aesthetic ) Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown! ⠀

The Vegan 😋🍨 Good selection of vegan ice cream. I had the chocolate (very rich) and strawberry jam (alright). If you can handle dairy try the Tiki Paradise, such tropical summery goodness.
Giving you plenty of notice, for the upcoming sale at The Proof Flat.
Father’s Day gifts will be a plenty. Sipping on some rum, tequila, cognac, whisky. Or even grabbing a good book, and some glassware. You know what to do! 🥃🍸🍾

It's been about 4 months since moving South and I've been trying to make it a point to explore something new at least once a week. This past week it was a stop into @pieceofmeatbutcher to check out the goods and they did not disappoint. Picked up a couple links of smoked #boudin and threw a few on the grill immediately after coming home, leaving one lonely, but oh so loved, sausage left behind. It had bigger plans down the road and though my mind kept thinking hash has hash, my heart was longing for something a little more special. So for today's #dayoffpayoff I spent some alone time in the kitchen treating myself to a Smoked Boudin Scotch Egg w/ pickled red onions and Banner Butter mustard seed vinaigrette. My moment of zen enjoying one of my last Sunday's off for a bit.
#pieceofmeatbutcher had a fantastic case, @joshcorlin_tattoo_art and I spotted the #tritip right away and though it was hard to pass up, we settled on some smoked boudin studded with chunky bits of liver and just enough smoke. You could sit outside this place all day and smell the oak on the wind. Seriously, @yankeecandle - ya'll need to come and do a collab asap.
Perfect #softboiledeggs are easy to achieve in just 6 minutes, steamed, which I feel makes them peel easier. I split the boudin from the casing and loosened it up with a splash of #crystalhotsauce and a shot of chicken stock, packing that gently around the egg. I didn't want to take the time to make breadcrumbs, so when I found scraps of pork rinds in the back of the pantry I high fived myself before giving them a whirl in the food processor.
A quick pickle of red onion in some vinegar & spices was enough acidity to cut through the richness and they came out a beautifully blushed pink. This #bannerbutter I also picked up on the way out the butcher shop was mounted into some mustard seed vinaigrette I made last week which was sitting around the fridge waiting for something exciting to do.
This bad boy was fried off crispy in a vat of oil cut with a copious amount of #chickenfat and it was perfectly crunchy golden and molten. Sometimes you gotta just #treatyoself ya know?
The beginning of May was a little tough and not my best but going to Sacramento to hang with one of my most favorite people and then coming home to this bad boy has made it a bit better and what I needed to get ready to study. #treatyoself#retailtherapy#letsgetdowntobusiness
African Turquoise and Rose Quartz brought together in honor of Yemoja; the African Goddess of the Ocean and the patron diety of pregnant women.
“She is honored not only in Africa but in Brazil. She is the creator goddess of the Yoruba tribe. This goddess went with the members of the Yoruba tribe when they were captured and taken to various areas in the world as slaves. She then became very well known and given different names. This is why she is honored in Brazil and also how she is associated with Virgin Mary.
Her followers all wear necklaces of seven blue beads and seven clear crystals alternating. Yemoja gave birth to all the waters and is known as the “mama watta”. Her name is a contraction of Yoruba words,”Yeye emo eja” which means “Mother whose children are like fishes.” Her parents are Oduduwa and Obatala. She married Agayu and they had one son, Orungan, and fifteen Orishas.
She is different then most goddesses because she is, in fact, a mermaid. Her symbols are seashells, coral, a gourd rattle, an anchor, a key, and turquoise. In the Umbanda religion, they worship her as one of the seven orixas of the African pantheon. She is known to them as the Queen of the Ocean. Yemoja is the patron of women, particularly pregant women; fishermen; and sunken ship survivors.
Yemoja created a tribe and gave birth to all the water, salt and fresh, so she became a goddess. Call upon her when you want to connect to your inner child. She can help you imagine that you too are a mermaid and can have fun. Place turquoise along with seashells and coral on her altar.”
