Whilst we were having tea and snacks in his yurt, Nusrat began telling us about his experiences in Paris. Yes!! He had represented Tajikistan at a tourism expo in Paris. He showed us photographs of him in a snowy Paris, visiting the Louvre Museum and Arch de Triomphe, amongst some of the highlights.

As we were busy listening to him, I happened to look up and lock eyes with this little man, who is Nusrat’s second son, Abdul Samad. He was taking a break from his chores, and had poked his head around the bamboo blind, which served as a “door” to the yurt. As his father was still animatedly telling us about his experiences in Paris (with his back to the door), I winked at him, and put a finger to my lip, to indicate that he should remain silent. He broke into a slight smile when he saw that 😍🥰

Right there - with that sweet smile of his, and with just enough light illuminating part of his face, I knew I just have to click my camera to freeze that precious moment. And I did 📸
