This is a special day for me. One year ago today I was on a plane again (5 days after the last one I took from Australia to Italy) directed to the country that would have become my new home, for a year at least. Exactly one year ago on this day I was moving to the United States of America 🇺🇸 That was going to be the first time ever in the USA for me and I was there with a one way ticket on my hands without knowing what was going to happen. I knew I had a job, I knew I was going to join the lab of one of the most amazing researcher in the ALS field, I knew I was getting closer and closer to keep my promise, I knew it was going to be hard, a new start under every point of view. And here I am now, a year later, with a lot of goals accomplished, with the desire of pushing myself harder and harder to reach the new goals, with a great feeling of fulfillment. However, in these particular situations as well as in life in general it’s never so easy as it looks like; there have been a lot of down days, weeks or months, time when you wanna give up on everything, when you don’t feel capable, when you don’t feel enough, when you feel lonely and you would like just to have someone to talk to and to be told from that everything is gonna be ok, someone to hang out with, or your family around to tell you that you are doing great things. Then you realize that are all those good and bad moments that made you the person you are and actually I am pretty proud of the person I am 😊 So people, keep chasing your dreams, live the life that you’ve always wanted to have, feel happy and never give up only because of fears 🤗
By the way yes, that I was pointing at is North America’s beautiful painting made by my beautiful artist @_claudiasimone_ who perfectly made my idea of artistic continents real! 😍🎨 Every continent is filled with a famous painting; North America has one version of Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe on it. Can you guess the others?! 😌 Write them in the comments! ⬇️😊

  • Within my time on EMS, I've met a large variety of characters. Some you forget, some you remember, and some go the distance. These two have literally kept me around as a friend and kept me out of trouble as family. And here they are taking pictures on my phone like I wouldn't notice . I love you guys, no matter where we came from, no matter where we go. #ecuador #hungary #unitedstates

  • Another part of American history. The Poston Internment Camp, located in Yuma County (now in La Paz County) of southwestern Arizona, was the largest (in terms of area) of the ten American concentration camps operated by the War Relocation Authority during World War II. The site was composed of three separate camps arranged in a chain from north to south at a distance of three miles from each other. Internees named the camps Roasten, Toastin, and Dustin, based on their desert locations. The Colorado River was approximately 3 miles (4.8 km) to the west, outside of the camp perimeter. Poston was built on the Colorado River Indian Reservation, over the objections of the Tribal Council, who refused to be a part of doing to others what had been done to their tribe. However, Army commanders and officials of the Bureau of Indian Affairs overruled the Council, seeing the opportunity to improve infrastructure and agricultural development (which would remain after the war and aid the Reservation’s permanent population) on the War Department budget. The council was soon overridden and construction began in 1942. Del Webb was awarded the construction contract. The Poston Memorial Monument was erected in 1992. Camp survivors and their descendants spearheaded the effort. It was built through donations and volunteer labor and with the cooperation of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, which are composed of Mohave, Chemehuevi, Navajo and Hopi people. I have been to Manzanar and can feel the weight of being in a place like this. You would think as we move into 2020, we would have learn from past mistakes, but here we are.⁣
