Fall is coming in hot!! I’m supposed to be heading up to Berg Lake (44km return hike) next weekend but I haven’t decided if I will bring Gaia or go solo.⠀
On one hand, I will have a less gear to carry and will be able to spend more time taking photos and drinking coffee.⠀
On the other hand I will have a friend to share the experiences with but will have to do some serious bribery/motivation. It’s getting cold and we have already done a lot of hiking this year. Sleeping in a tent starts to lose its appeal after so many sleeps- especially when you have a hot tub at home. I’m sure by kilometre 40 I’ll be dreaming about that hot tub too. ⠀
Since my sister moved back to Canada in 2017, we started this new tradition where we go on an annual, super-ambitious-for-a-weekend trip together somewhere amazing. Typically we take an extra day off, and find this superpower-like state of road trip. We barely need to take breaks, because we’re constantly talking, laughing, and occasionally ripping each other part with a mini-fight. 😂 In 2017, we booked it to the amazing Lone Pine & Mt. Whitney. In 2018, we drifted down to Seaside, Oregon in record time. This year, we took our annual quest (last weekend) within BC & AB, up to Mt. Robson and Jasper National Park.
Highlights of this year’s trip included seeing Mt. Robson crystal-clear, watching lightning strikes while driving the Yellowhead Highway, falling further in love with Valemount, and some inside jokes that no one else would understand. Oh yeah, I also ran the #berglakemarathon#50k during the trip and that was super epic, hearing ice fall off the Berg glacier and into Berg Lake... not your typical run!
We went to Valemount last weekend to check out the bike park and we weren’t quite sure what to expect with the mixed bag of weather in the forecast... We were rolling our eyes a bit when we got into town at just how soggy everything was, but after the first lap on the trails, we were stoked! Grip for days, even during the downpours! Haha we were totally soaked after, but you couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces. We’ll be back!

It was the first day on a Rocky Mountain tour-!
Actually, we didn’t do anything at that day because going to Rocky Mountain was really far from Vancouver lol
We had just a long time driving almost 7-8 hours, ,, , It was total 700km!
Oh my butt lolol🤣
