Yesterday, I quietly celebrated ten years of being alcohol free.
It’s hard to believe it’s been that long, and on the other hand... ten years seems like a lifetime ago.
Each year I debate on sharing my milestone since this is a personal decision/journey and is only a tiny part of who I am. On the other hand, being vulnerable and sharing my life always seems to resonate with someone who reaches out to me to tell me that it was what they needed to hear. Because of those individuals, I share my story.
There is a lot of promotion of alcohol with the outdoors, but it’s a fact that drinking is everywhere and seemingly more so if you’re struggling with it. If you’re one of the millions who struggle with drinking or wish you could slow down or stop, I’m here to tell you that it’s possible. A little over ten years ago, I didn’t think I could manage to stick with such a lofty goal so I didn’t set it. I just tried to manage to get through each day. As the weeks, months and years went by, drinking didn’t have a seat at the table any longer. It was replaced with photography, art, dogs, travel and friends.
Because I’m not one to sit still... these passions and a continued sense of curiosity gradually brought my numbed brain back to life.
I will always be grateful for this gift I’ve given myself. There is no way I would be here if I continued on my self destructing path.
If you are facing a challenging time in your life please know that it gets better. Be gentle with yourself, make a few changes and you’ll find that anything is possible. ❤️
🇬🇧 Day 6 of our March road trip: admiring the Mediterranean Sea and Monaco from above. 🙌 We didn’t stay here for the night because this parking is just on the side of the road and we like more discrete spots, however it was perfect to drink a beer with this awesome view! And you, do you sleep in places like this on the side of the road? -

Did we get another #vandog ?
Unfortunately all our trials to steal Elvis from his owners @theonewiththevan failed. But hell, he made me weak.
Cleo is the best part of my life for more than 11 years now and as much as I love dogs I told myself to not get another one. Just because of the fact of traveling overseas and other places where you can't take the dog.
Having Elvis visiting us made me seriously doubting my strength. I expect many strays in Russia and Central Asia. Will I be able to resist a helpless puppy? We will see...
Have you see many strays on your travels?
I knew from the moment I first saw my little Momo that she was meant to be my dog
It was kinda love at first sight!
I adopted her within 30 minutes of meeting her, but wasn’t allowed to take her home yet because she needed to be spayed. So I visited her every day that week (and apparently I was the first person to do that, which I thought was kinda cool)
They also told me my little Momo was rescued from a Puppy Mill Operation- she was starved for attention and used only to make other puppies
From that moment on I promised my Mo she would want for naught-
She would always be going on new adventures, meeting new people, and getting as many snuggles as she wants (which if you know Momo, is ALL of the snuggles)
Now, a little over a year later and on the other side of the country, I couldn’t imagine my life without this little one in it.

Happy 1 year to the best vanlife companion in the world, @liveinthemomo 🥰
For every nice picture there is of Simba there are at least ten blurry ones. He's always one step ahead, always moving, always looking for new things and smells, greeting other dogs and people.
This is where he's at his happiest: standing on the edge of steep cliffs and gazing into the distance. I had to say goodbye to the fear of him falling pretty quickly. Instead, I learned to trust him and to let him lead the way instead.

I used to have one maniac dog and one philosopher dog, now I have two maniacs! Just watching them run all over the place makes me out of breath 😅 #kainokulmala#ninjachaos

Day 5 of our March road trip: another incredible place in south of France. In the village of Roussillon you can see the beautiful colors of « le sentier des Ocres », another old ochre quarry. After this visit, we drove to a campsite nearby where we use a propre shower 🚿 and emptied the grey-water. -

Maisey is showing her age now, she's 10 years old. Yesterday we spent the day by a river and walked a good 5 or 6 miles waiting for the van to be sorted. She was sooo slow but she did well for an older lady. We had to stop several times and give her a few rear leg rubs as they seize up. She needs wheels lol.
Finally spring is back. Love our walks and nature. Marvel is a good puppy, learns fast. And Pepper ist even a better big brother. They get along so well.
Yesterday was a sad day. Notre Dame was on Fire. Unbelievable and sad. This building was amazing .

Remember that feeling you had as kid riding your bike chasing the sunset? You pedal harder and harder till it feels like your legs are going to fall off. Your eyes tear in the wind and cheeks are burning from smiling so damn hard. You can hear your friends screaming laughter behind you and it feels like if you just push a little faster you could possibly, just maybe, fly?
I see that feeling in Sadie's face when she's running. Out in the desert, chasing the wind she is home. I love watching her run. Following her instincts, running so hard it looks like she's trying to lift off. Don't fly too far little bird, I'd miss you too much.

🇬🇧 Day 4 of our March road trip: we did some pics of our family ❤️ -
🇫🇷 Jour 4 de notre Road trip de mars: on a fait quelques photos de notre famille ❤️
Was ein Unterschied.. . .
Our long-tongued doggo is stoked about Spring! We’ve been spending our days a little less cooped up than usual, and are excited that warm weather adventures are on their way!
Also, I finally resigned from my soul sucking job on Friday, and have an entire week off before I start my new position. I’m hoping to use this small window of freedom to clean out the RV (finally), hit the gym, and make some progress on my blog and etsy shop - all things I’ve been putting off due to the ongoing pity party I’ve been throwing over the past few months.
What are you guys hoping to get accomplished during the month of April?!
