Happy Monday! It’s been too damn long since we’ve chatted LIVE so let’s change that. Live vanlife happy hour coming in hot at 2pm PST today! We’ll talk about vanlife and real estate investing.
Investing in real estate got me where I am today and I’m stoked to share about it! I flipped houses in Austin and am looking for a renovation project in Tucson while I’m here for a few months acting in a play.
Have you ever thought about flipping houses or vans? Ask me anything below!

Photos only give you a snapshot of this lifestyle. And our photos certainly don't showcase the less glamorous side of living in a van (maybe because we simply don’t like taking photos of certain things)... but it's not all picturesque views and nightly fire pits. Like any way of life, it’s not easy and definitely not glamorous all the time. And we truly don’t believe it is for everyone.
We even question if this is the life for us when it’s dark, the roads are sketchy, and we have no idea where we’re going to sleep that night. Or when a random car pulls up too uncomfortably close in the middle of the night. Or the time a truck started to pull donuts around us as we slept. Or the time we got stuck in a sandy ditch as the ocean tide started to rise.
This life is what you make it. Two years ago we had just heard about this movement called vanlife...and now here we are in the New Mexico desert 🌵
Anything is possible if that’s what you truly want. Ask yourself what do I really want and then take small steps daily to make it happen. So our question to you is...what do you want? What are you going to do to make it happen?

Here’s a shot of @d_law007 about 17 years ago, standing in front of his grandmother’s Astro, which she bought new in 1994.
D_Law is still driving this van, today! It has 301,656 miles on it at the time of this posting.
“I have tons of great memories, like the many family road trips we took in it,” he said of the EXT RWD van. “Now, it’s my work van.”
D_Law’s grandmother must have babied this thing, as it fantastically still has the original engine and transmission.
Hopefully, @generalmotors will love this story as much as we do and, ultimately, #bringbacktheastro

I'm a very hands on chef, I see now why too many cooks spoil the broth
Fun day in the Happys. No big sends but got to top out this little guy, Alex Patterson V5. Even with this climb being named similar to my Alex, he ended up struggling the most with all the scrunchy moves and pocket holds. Yay for being short (sometimes) #petitegirl#shortiebeta@petiteascension

All this lack of snow is making me miss nights spent under the desert stars! ✨ 🌟

This little machine at the PARA Rubber store would have made life so much easier when hacking away at our foam in the UK! Picked up and cut our foam for the van all at once! Brilliant! Thanks for the tips @gander_overlander 🙌 •
📸 : @greenearthlingblog ~ "Drum roll please! 🥁 We are officially opening up our workshop to take on van conversion bookings for customers!
When we first announced that we were going to start our van conversion business, we were constantly umming and ahing as to whether we wanted to stick to personal projects, or open up our books to work with others.
At the time we decided to keep things simple whilst we settled in to our new home and set up the workshop with all the van building dream tools. Last week in our team meeting, yes, we sit down every Monday to run through our to do's 😂 we felt like it was now the right time to take on conversions for you lovely lot!
We have a few things in the pipeline for builds, so our first official booking date will be April 1st 2020.
We can work on anything from small vans to buses and will give real van lifer advice along the way. We also can support with certain areas of your conversion like electrics and gas installations for those of you who want to do most of the build yourself.
Day 2 on the Highway 1. (swipe⇄)
More shots from my trip down the infamous Pacific Highway 1 between San Francisco and Los Angeles.
That day I woke up and fell asleep facing the Pacific Ocean, driving all the way from Big Sur to Malibu.

Pt. 10 Astro Van "Bed"! Although we have a roof top tent for our main camp sleeping quarters, it seemed ridiculous to make a camping van with no bed inside! Years ago I camped all summer in my '87 Trooper II and I made a much simpler version of this "bed". The main idea I took from that project is a properly flat area to lie down that has some sort of padding. For both projects I had a very simple, but durable approach: camping pad stapled to plywood and covered in automotive carpeting. This provides a suitable surface to lie down in any case; however, if you were planning to sleep inside the van, you'd want to bring some extra cushion!
Part of the bedding surface is the top of the rear cabinets and another part is mounted to the back of the folding seat. There are "tabs" that extend beyond the top of the seat behind the headrests and again below (rear laid down). This is accomplished by stacking two sheets of 1/2" plywood. One is screwed to the metal seat back which extends beyond the other above (padded and carpeted) and creates the tabs.
The tabs are to support overlays that serve to fill gaps and also at the junction for an extension past the folded seat. There is a section between the front cabinet and bed surface that I wanted to fill, so I made a little hinged piece.
Another gap in the surface is between the folded seat back and the rear cabinet top. When you fold the seat down there is about an eight inch gap in the design (for specific storage-later) that must be covered. This has another hinged section that folds to cover the gap. It is the whole width of the bed surface.
These sections create most of the bed surface, but there are still a couple of supports as well as a big extension section to make it complete. to be continued...

We had planned to leave Santa Barbara this morning, but there was so much more we wanted to see and do! 🌊
So we extended our stay by a day, because we can. 👏
Heading to to the Bay Area tomorrow! 🌁Where should we stop along the way?

“It’s like a limo!!” Direct quote from Holly after she saw the LED’s 🤣. Since we’ve been at the horse show we’ve really gotten to settle and begin to personalize the van. We definitely didn’t give the kids of lead time on the build we should have but our contractor did a great job.
I’ll definitely do a post in the future showing the build out process. Being completely frank, I had to do a bit of pride swallowing after I did about 90% of the demo. I realized that was about the scope of my ability lol. Luckily a scant 2 years after Holly bought her, progress resumed and was hurriedly finished 🤦🏻♂️. Honestly we’ve been really lucky and are extremely grateful for the help we’ve received along the way. Finally being here in our little space ship is a dream come true.

CAMBIA, TODO CAMBIA
Muchas veces los planes cambian, se modifican, mutan, a veces se cancelan y otras veces renacen entre las cenizas. Pero los planes no son más que una intención, un proyecto. Y esos cambio no deberían condicionar nuestros sueños. .
Luego, decidimos volver a Argentina.
What is your dream vacation? If you had 3 months to go anywhere and do anything, what would that look like? When I think of my dream vacation, this is it. Boscha’s full utilitarianism can be realized, Bella can run free all day, and I get to share this fun little right with the locals... the local pod of dolphins, that is!

Brody’s advice after discovering what was underneath it all 😬😂😂
Don’t worry, we are back at it 💪🏽 after a much needed rain delay here in Australia, it’s time to tackle some rust 😤
What advice would you give someone who is about to buy a bus or van??
The number 1 question we get asked is how we get down in the van. Intimacy is an important factor to a healthy marriage and living in a tiny space with a toddler nearby can present obstacles. Sometimes you have to get creative and it could even be a little entertaining (take advantage of nap times and early bedtimes). From national parks to Walmart parking lots ya just make it happen! 😉
P.S- We are 95% sure Baby B was conceived in a Walmart parking lot in Utah

This weekend Jack and I headed from Sedona to Quartzsite, AZ - the RV mecca of the southwest! We really had no idea what to expect at RTR (Rubber Tramp Rendezvous), and boy were we surprised! After doing some sorting through a sea of Class A RVs we ran across PaRTR which seemed to be the most lively place yet. We danced until one a.m. with a bunch of older folks and played giant Jenga and even sang Wonderwall karaoke. It was a really unique experience that Jack luckily got to capture on his drone! Can you spot Savannah? 🚐🌵 #RTR#RTR2020#PaRTR
