🍕🍕Recipe: Dough
3 cups flour (360g)
1 packet of yeast
1 tbsp sugar
1 1/2 tbsp olive oil
1 cup warm water
1/2 tsp salt

Vegan Cheese
1/2 cauliflower (375g)
3.5 tbsp tapioca flour
1 tbsp nutritional yeast
1-2 tsp salt
*add salt to taste preferences
1/2-1 cup non-dairy milk, unsweetened and no flavor

Pizza Sauce
3/4 cup tomato sauce
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp parsley
1/4 oregano
A pinch red pepper flakes

METHOD
Warm the water up to 110-115F (43-46C). I usually put it in the microwave for about 30 seconds and that is good. You can use a thermometer to check or I test it with my finger for the temperature of a very hot bath.
Pour the sugar and yeast packet int the water and set it aside for 10 minutes. The yeast will get foamy and start to smell.
Sift in 1/2 the flour and salt into a big bowl. I like to add the flour in halves so I do not add too much. Some days you may need more or less flour.

  • all you need for dinner this weekend is my homemade cashew arugula cream sauce and cashew parm😍✌🏽ditch the dairy for this delectable and nutrient dense dish ✨ it’s s’GOOOOd!
soak 1 cup raw cashews in warm water for 2 hours and drain
blend in a blender with:
2/3 cup mushroom or veggie broth
1 small garlic clove
handful fresh arugula

red pepper flakes

🍃Dough⁣ ingredients:⁣
~ 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour⁣⁣
~ 1 pack active yeast (2 1/4 teaspoon)⁣⁣
~ 3 teaspoons sugar⁣⁣
~ 3 teaspoons oil⁣⁣
~ 2/3 cup warm plant-based milk⁣
⁣🍃Filling: ⁣⁣
~ 4 cups finely shredded cabbage⁣⁣
~ 1 cup chopped kale⁣⁣
~ 7-8 mushrooms, soak until soft & slice thinly⁣⁣
~ 1 carrot, finely chopped⁣⁣
~ 2 teaspoons thinly sliced ginger, 3 cloves minced garlic⁣⁣
~ 2 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 teaspoons stir fry sauce, 1 teaspoon sugar, a pinch of white pepper⁣⁣
~ salt, oil, sesame oil, minced ginger, chopped scallions⁣⁣
⁣⁣
✅Mix flour, yeast & sugar in a bowl, then add-in wet ingredients. Using a dough hook, knead the mixture until a soft dough forms. Turn dough onto a floured surface, & knead for 4-5 minutes until you see a smooth top. Let the dough rest in a bowl for 30 minutes, covered. ⁣⁣
⁣✅Meanwhile, in a heated pan with 2 teaspoons oil, sauté ginger, mushrooms & garlic until fragrant. Add cabbage & sauce, cook for 2 minutes & spoon mixture into a bowl. Continue to sauté kale with a little oil & salt, then add to cabbage mixture along with chopped scallions, minced ginger, carrot & drizzle of sesame oil.⁣
⁣✅To make the buns, turn dough onto a floured surface & roll into a log. Divide log into 20-25 pieces & roll each one into a ball. Take 1 dough & flatten it slightly with your palm, then using a roller, roll it to about 3 inches round by leaving a good thickness in the middle. Place a heaping tablespoon of filing & pleat to seal. ⁣⁣
⁣✅In a heated pan with a drizzle of oil, place buns sealed side down & pan fry for 30 secs until the bottom turns light brown. Slowly add in hot water to cover ~1/3 of the buns, place lid over & turn heat to low-med. Cook until all water is absorbed.⁣
Serve warm with homemade chili oil in soy sauce🤗

0.25 cups Vegan Butter⁠
1 medium Yellow Onion (diced)⁠
5 cloves Garlic (minced)⁠
0.25 cups Vegetable Broth⁠
4 tbsp Arrowroot Powder⁠
1 cup “Lite” Coconut Milk⁠
1 cup Unsweetened Plant-based Milk⁠
0.25 cups Nutritional Yeast⁠
Salt & Pepper (to your taste)⁠
1 small lemon, zested⁠
⁠
* DIRECTIONS *⁠
1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the vegan butter.⁠
2. Once melted, add the onion and garlic. Stir for about 5-7 minutes until the onion is softened.⁠
3. Add the vegetable broth and simmer for 2-3 minutes.⁠
4. Reduce the heat to medium-low and add the arrowroot powder, whisking continuously for 1 minute.⁠
5. Gradually add both the coconut milk and plant-based milk, about 1/3 of a cup at a time. Cook the mixture for 2-3 minutes, again whisking continuously.⁠
6. Add the nutritional yeast, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine, then turn off the heat.⁠
7. Transfer the mixture to a blender and purée until the sauce is smooth.⁠

Return your Alfredo sauce to the skillet and add your cooked pasta, tossing to coat. Enjoy! 🌟⁠

  • The dairy industry routinely rapes cows in order to forcibly impregnate them. Within hours of giving birth, their newborn babies are taken away. They're known to cry out for each other for weeks on end. If they're male calves they're sold for veal, murdered, chopped up and sold as food. If you don't eat veal for ethical reasons, you may want to know that by buying dairy you are supporting the veal industry. They're essentially 2 parts of the same industry. 
We can all make a choice to not support this cruelty by making a simple shift to a vegan diet. 
There are so many delicious plant based alternatives to dairy products and it seems like more are becoming available by the day. Please cast your vote for cruelty free food by swapping out the dairy in your diet for plant based alternatives. If you want to save some money you can try making some at home- many recipes are so simple to make and only take a few ingredients and a couple minutes. You'd be surprised the foods that are being veganized! 
There really is no good reason not to be vegan. And every reason to be. 
I know you care about animals and don't want to cause them to suffer. Please align your morals with your actions. 
Please be compassionate. Please be vegan.

I've been vegan for 4 years and 5 months (9/1/2015) and it was the best thing Ive ever done in my life. ⁣

(Makes 18-20 Balls)⁣⠀
📝INGREDIENTS📝⁣⠀
2 Cans chickpeas⁣⠀
1 Cup Red Onion (Chopped)⁣⠀
¼ Cup Parsley⁣⠀
4 Cloves Garlic (Peeled)⁣⠀
1 Tbsp Lemon Juice⁣⠀
2 Tsp Cumin⁣⠀
1 Tsp Salt⁣⠀
1 Tsp Black Pepper⁣⠀
½ Tsp Red Pepper Flakes⁣⠀
1 Cup Bread Crumbs⁣⠀
Olive Oil⁣⠀

👩‍🍳PREPARATION👨‍🍳⁣⠀
1. Add the chickpeas, onion, parsley, garlic, lemon juice, and spices to a food processor.⁣⠀
2. Pulse the ingredients together until they’re combined and form a wet paste. Take care not to over-blend!⁣⠀
3. Transfer the blended mixture to a large mixing bowl and add bread crumbs, mixing until just combined.⁣⠀
4. Cover the mixture with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 1-2 hours.⁣⠀
5. Remove the mixture from the fridge and shape into roughly 18-20 1 inch balls.⁣⠀
6. Heat the oil in a pan, and fry the falafel balls for ~3 mins, flipping half way through. They’re cooked when golden brown and crispy.⁣⠀
7. Enjoy as they are, in a wrap, on a salad, or however you like! 🌱😋 ⁣⠀

  • “Cheater” Mushroom Stroganoff made with 😋Savoury Mushroom Basil Sauce by @ladeedagourmetsauces. I simply cooked up thick sliced portabello mushrooms with sliced green bell pepper then added the sauce. The last step is to stir in the cooked pasta of your choice. Easy-Peasy delicious meal in minutes!

  • A new refrigerator is coming on Monday so we have been holding off grocery shopping so there is less to deal with during the transition so I’ve been making due with what we have until then so meal prep took some creativity. Lunch wasn’t so weird (pictured) a brown and wild rice blend with some homemade seitan chicken strips (had just enough vital wheat gluten left to make a batch of them) and not pictured is the broccoli I had already eaten but my breakfast meal prep was a little unusual (but still ended up being pretty delicious). Will try to remember to snap a picture before I eat it tomorrow. #veganmealprep #veganfitfam #veganmeals

  • I was so excited to talk about thew Bernie rally disruption at the Saturday Morning Meetup at the @berkeleyarc connecting with other activists over brunch from @roblopez_iam and @unhinged_af!

As a Bernie supporter I truly believe he will be a great president of the United States who will always have the best interest of the people in mind.  Having said that,  he unfortunately have a checkered past/present in regards to animal rights and propping up animal ag.  Animal rights is a social justice issue and this is an area he need to include in his platform in, NOT animal welfare!

Shout out to Michael for supplying some of his amazing purified water to the ARC and speaking up for animals with us at a Starbucks disruption after the meetup!

  • This is so delicious !!! Hemp Alfredo sauce with zucchini noodles and pecan bits that I toasted and then simmered in veggie broth with some no chick'n bouillon. I can't believe how flavorful this is. Alfredo pasta used to be my favorite food and I'm glad I finally found a replacement that's even better tasting,  more satisfying , full of nutrients and doesn't hurt any momma cow's !

  • 🍨Follow @mayavilleofficial for more delicious recipes🌟 Absolutely drool-worthy Vegan Magnums by @thetastyk. Ingredients:
Vanilla ice cream:
½ cup cashews (soaked overnight)
½ cup coconut cream
1 tsp vanilla extract/powder
⅛ cup maple syrup
Blueberry chia jam:
½ cup frozen blueberries
1 tsp maple syrup
1 Tbsp chia seeds
Date peanut caramel:
5 Medjool dates, pitted
1 tsp peanut butter
⅓ cup plant milk
¼ tsp vanilla extract/powder
dash of sea salt
Vegan Nutella:
½ cup roasted hazelnuts
1 Tbsp cacao powder
⅛ cup maple/date syrup
¼ cup coconut cream
dash of sea salt
Passion fruit:
2 passion fruits
1 tsp maple syrup (optional)
Prepare the fillings first. For the nutella/date caramel simply place all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until smooth. Set in the fridge to chill. For the jam, heat up the frozen berries in a sauce pan. Once unfrozen, take them off the heat, place them in a blender and blitz for a few seconds before pouring back into the sauce pan. Add in the maple syrup and chia seeds and combine well. Set aside to let the chia seeds soak.
For the ice cream, simply place all ingredients into a high-speed blender and blend until you have a creamy smooth mixture.
Fill your molds with the mixture up until ½-3/4 (depending on how much filling you want), add the wooden stick and place into the freezer for 1 hour (make sure that the wooden stick is covered in ice cream for easier removal).
Once firm, a a layer of each filling on top and place back into the freezer until completely firm.
Melt you chocolates and cover each magnum with the respective chocolate flavor. Place on a cooling rack and into the fridge for a few minutes.
Store in the freezer and take out 1-2 minutes prior to serving!

This resonates with those of us who prepare plant based meals at home! My most frequent, almost daily use is Cardamom and most exciting find was ‘Liquid Smoke!’ I made some greens! And you couldn’t tell there wasn’t meat because of the smokiness!!! Very successful dish! I’ve used 13/18. How many have you used???
