Happy #nationalvolunteerweek and a big thank you to all those who generously give their time, insight and support to #uptownwaterloo ! This includes our dedicated committee members and Board of Directors, as well as event & festival superstars. You help make uptown the welcoming, vibrant and diverse community that it is! 💙
Were you one of our 417 parkrunners at Hazeldean Farm this morning? Well, head over to our run report to read all about our heros and parkrunners at our Valentines and #running4pangolins parkrun this morning!
This superstar volunteer is Lucie. She always shows incredible kindness to every Home Sweet Home client she meets, and today was just another example of Lucie going the extra mile to show love and make our clients feel comfortable and welcomed. It is often cold in our warehouse where clients select their furniture. Today’s first client was quite chilly, and Lucie shared the coat right off her own back to keep the client warm. We 💚 Lucie’s big 💙. #volunteersareamazing #homesweethome #stlouis #furniturebank #nonprofit #furnishinghope
Most people won’t understand but these doors are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!!! When you walk through these doors you will see, memory verses being learned, how Jesus walked on water, how David defeated Goliath, how Jesus fed 5,000, how Zacchaeus was a wee little man, to love others, and how to love ourselves. The Lil Kidz Ministry means so much to me. A lot of time, thought, prayers, meetings, and so much more have went into making lil Kidz what it is today. We have such amazing volunteers and we are sooo very thankful for all the people that have put in the volunteer time to remodel lil JC Kidz so we can keep up with the growth of our church. #SoThankful#VolunteersAreAmazing#LilJCKidz#JoshuasCrossing

Super TEAMWORK skills at Beavers this week!
Our leaders are amazing team! Main leaders been with us over 2 years now and then others have come on board since. They all get on so well and really invested in teaching Beavers #skillsforlife
They did begin with a Scouting quiz where questions on Group and District names were tricky... need to think about this more and make this more apparent.

Yesterday, we had the great pleasure of spending some time with Ted and Emma as they helped cook up over 80 meals for our Pantry. As part of the winning team of a work team challenge at Laing O’Rourke, they selected Trinity Centre Pantry as the recipient of a generous donation. Thank you, Ted and Emma (and team), for your donation but also for your time. You certainly made potato peeling pass quickly and we are so very grateful for your kind donation and your help in preparing meals for those in need. Cleaning the floor of BSG’s Hut today made me reflect on being new GSL of a village group... -
This floor is a nightmare to clean it has deep wood floor effect grooves but is only lino. Its donated so we are grateful but it is a nightmare!
If I could scrap it and get something better I would. Taking over a Scout Group with many past issues I do wish we could really start a fresh.
Many people use it and are generally ok at washing the surface, but you get the odd ones that just don’t care and leave it in a worse state. It’s not Scouting it’s not nice, don’t leave it for others just get a brush and do your best.. so the last 3 months I’ve been doing a lot of sweeping up of mess that others have ignored!
Some of that sweeping hasn’t been enough and a good old scrub has been required! It’s HARD! It takes much longer and you definitely need more patience... but you know it will be worth it in the end and the floor will reflect that someone cares about the Group and it’s assets!
Once it’s super clean / issues are sorted, you know it will get dirty again... it’s bound to happen! That’s life. That’s what we (GSL’s) are here for though, to do the little extras that make a big difference. To help our volunteers and show that we do care.
If we care, they care, if others outside of Scouting see us all caring they want to care too... then next time I will most likely have help to scrub the floor 🙌
Excuse the image quality but had to share these. Tonight at dog training Dash and I noticed a distressed juvenile magpie caught in some nylon fruit netting high in a tree. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I called @wildlifevictoria who promptly arranged both a wildlife rescuer and the local CFA. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Both the bird's feet were badly tangled but with some skilled handling from the CFA crew and dexterous scissor skills from the rescuer, he was quickly freed and back with mum. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I am just in awe of the carer and CFA crews who gave up their time without complaint to rescue a magpie. For some, this is 'just a bird' and I know they will see it as a waste of resources. But no animal should have to suffer like that and I for one am really grateful. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thank you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

We have some amazing volunteers who make Gospel Joy possible. These two have spent hours making our first French audio Bible Study happen. From reviewing manuscripts, coaching our voice actress, to giving professional editing of our recordings. We are so thrilled to have a French study nearly done and ready to bring to Africa next month. It is only because of them. #volunteersareamazing#francophoneafrica#biblestudy
Young people can do amazing things! Did you know that here at the Horicon Historical Society kids make up a large portion of our volunteer staff? This year we've had 7 kids helping with cleaning and decorating, and 2 more will join us as demonstrators and docents during our Christmas open houses. You are never too young (or too old) to volunteer, and organizations like ours depend on the willingness of others to graciously give their time and skills in our various projects throughout the year.
Today is International Volunteer Day, the pawfect opportunity to say thank you 🐾
At Dogs 4 Rescue we are incredibly lucky to have an army of volunteers who generously donate their time and skills to help us make a difference to the lives of our rescue dogs and to support our mission. From walking and exercising the rescues, to fostering in their homes. From managing our social media platforms, to fundraising and raising awareness of our little rescue, and everything in between. Thank you so much for everything you do for us and the doggies 🧡
A great big thank you to JVM Realty Corp. of Oak Brook for volunteering their time today to help decorate the lobby and administrative wing at the Marklund Hyde Center in Geneva, and for presenting Marklund with a generous gift. This has become their #GivingTuesday tradition and we are so grateful. #VolunteersAreAmazing#ilgive
It's that time of the year again! Let the prepping begin for our Annual Christmas Open House. There is a lot of cleaning, organizing, and decorating that needs to happen during the next 7 days in order to get our museum buildings ready for visitor's.
Martin, Max, Moritz and I went to visit the glorious @parkrunroses this morning. And it such a pretty run! The Roses were so fragrant and in FULL bloom! A bucket list parkrun, indeed!
Martin and Max ran a blistering 23.52 this morning to come in as 3rd Male and 1st dog (sorry @rooibaardsports ) whilst Moritz and I died a little in the heat to come in 11th place (in 32 minutes... actually, I died a lot...) After my run, I spread a little joy by barcode scanning 140 other parkrunners in. Beautiful venue, extremely well marked, very accessible, friendly volunteers and the best Roses in the country, for sure! Thank you for the amazing run!
What an amazing turnout for the donation drop off for the shoebox project last Tuesday and Wednesday!! Thank you to all those supporting this amazing project that helps women in need. A special thank you to all the volunteers that helped get this off the ground. #teamwork#givingback#volunteersareamazing#shoeboxproject . RGSA supporting our future, our community

What could we accomplish without our volunteers? They are passionate, committed, kind and invested in a pain free future for all. Each day spent with them is a treasure.
Hopefully by now those of you who follow us here on Instagram and Facebook have already discovered that the villian of our play this year was Constable Browning. He murdered Diana because his beloved daughter Lillian drowned while in her care. He murdered Meena because she found out the truth. These two pictures feature the characters that the entire play revolves around. The first picture is our our typical cast picture. The second one is a typical picture of what goes on behind the scenes. 😁

The Trinity Centre Pantry team 2019 (well, most of them). The team spent some time together today reflecting on the service they provide to our community. They spoke about the priorities and challenges and shared a cup of tea or two with some delicious homemade goodies. A big thank you to Liz our convenor and Keith for all that they do in keeping this service running. Our heartfelt thanks also to the volunteers who help out people at a time when they need it most. #holytrinityvalley#trinitycentrepantry#volunteersareamazing#helpingourcommunity

There were some very shady "characters" this year. Here, one of our Constable Browning's is living up to his reputation of misbehaviour. He raided Ms. Meena's stock of Absinthe when no one was looking, and passed right out on the setee in the parlor. I wonder if he got to see any "little green fairies". Apparently not everyone can handle their absinthe as well as Millie Reitz. Good thing it was after the shows and not during! 😂
Now that our young ones in Shetland have returned to academic life after the October break the ShetlandPeerieMakkers groups hosted in primary schools across the islands are getting underway again for another productive ‘season’ of makkin’. This week many of the groups which were already established in the community started again for another winter, and we also saw the very first meeting of our very first group in the Island of Yell.
Today #fairislefriday saw the ShetlandPeerieMakkers team headed to the sun-dappled Island of Yell, where a new ShetlandPeerieMakkers group will be getting started next week. Today we met with the expert tutors who will be leading the group and handed over the ShetlandPeerieMakkers Sockbox.
Excitingly, there are also a further two Yell-based groups in the planning stages, thanks to a group of dedicated volunteers and support from the Shetland LEADER Programme 2014-2020.
