It’s been a while since I posted on here. In all honesty I’ve been really struggling lately. The old anxiety has come back x10 and to be honest it’s a miracle if I get through a day without crying. I’ve been thinking about how vocal I am in terms of sharing and talking about mental health when I’m feeling okay, but when I’m in the midst of it I get so worried about telling people. I worry people will think I’m just being dramatic, or that they won’t believe me or see how bad it is, because like so many people I’m really good at hiding it. So often for me it’s left until breaking point and even then I worry about telling people because I know I’m going to get upset. Just to clarify, getting upset never really bothers me in terms of friends and family but in a professional sense ie. telling people at work, it makes it really hard. Anyway, that said I finally got it all out on Monday. I’ve spent the last two days in my pajamas mainly sleeping and drawing, which has helped - and today is officially the first day of Spring which is always hopeful.
I hope you are all okay. If you are not, tell someone. Get it out. I know it’s hard but I promise it will help. This is a gentle reminder for you all that I’ve been repeating to myself lately. Much love 💖
If you’ve been following my stories lately you’ll have seen that I’ve come down with a bit of a cold this week, and on top of that my coursework this term has suddenly gone from manageable to a million things at once – anyone else?! When I get busy like this, it’s tempting to cut back on practices that bring a little balance into my life in order to focus on getting everything done, but that’s something I’m trying to work on. Fact: when I maintain those practices, not only am I a better/easier person to be around, I’m also ten times more productive. Here are some of the ways I’m planning to get through this busy patch happily and healthily:
✨Getting outside regularly for fresh air and sun
✨Eating wholesome, nourishing foods
✨Incorporating immune-boosting foods like turmeric & ginger
✨Scheduling my time, but also:

There is nothing shameful or weird about going to therapy, having a therapist, or anything of that kind. Personally I think the more we talk about these things openly the less of a stigma will be attached to it. If anyone is contemplating reaching out for professional help/ thinks they would benefit from it; allow yourself to open up the idea of it, don’t let other people’s judgements or your own insecurities get in the way of putting yourself first, reaching out for help or being authentically you.
I started my new therapy a week ago today. Two years ago for example I would never have imagined myself to have the strength to be going to therapy and speaking so openly, but here I am. Things change and shift. Don’t get me wrong it is super intense and overwhelming talking about past traumas and all the stuff I struggle with but at the same time it’s needed. Running away from all that and not dealing with it would only keep me in that negative mindset, I’m ready to confront things, make peace with them, let go, cry, smile, feel angry.
Why don’t you give yourself a chance too? However that may be, even if it’s just speaking to a friend or journaling. Dance with a new reality. It’s ok to be afraid, you can still do it anyway.
