When I was in Kazakhstan, we were hitchhiking long distances for the first time. And on one such way, we were making our way to the Altyn Emel National Park and were stuck on the highway with no cars in sights.
So, we sat beside the road, trying to flag down a car while being completely tired and sleepy. In fact, forget cars, we waved at any vehicle to stop for us on the highway. And so, after 30 minutes of waiting, a dairy truck finally stopped for us and we were pretty skeptical to get on it. It was being driven by two local men who looked sweet enough so we just had a little faith and got in front with them.
Although language has always been a barrier in this country, we sort of started understanding each other and realized that one of them is married and supposedly has kids my age (yes, because he thought I am studying in high school still.😅😓). Anyway, they told us they love Indians, played some hilarious Indian songs for us, showed us that Anandi (Balika Vadhu) is super famous in Kazakhstan and then dropped us on the way just a tad bit closer to our location.
Honestly, it was such a fun experience. We never thought we would ever do anything of the sort but this just shows how a little faith can take you to places, safely and securely. :)
When we were in Kazakhstan, we made our way to the famous Kaindy lake but had trouble finding someone to take us back to the nearest village.
We waited for a while, trying to score a ride but no luck. So, we walked for almost two hours and I had reached the ticket counter whereas @radhika_nomllers was still a little behind.
Suddenly, two cars stopped near her and she tried to explain to them our situation. Luckily, it was a family and the children knew English so it was easy to convey our request. They gladly agreed and gave us a ride to the Saty village.
And I was lucky enough to be sitting in the same car with the children driving and it was truly so amazing to talk and get to know them. They offered me water and snacks and made sure I was comfortable before dropping us off at the village and going on their way.
Truly, sometimes people can really surprise you.
P.S. They offered me Georgian mineral water which I instantly disliked. So, beware, next time someone offers you that. But it was super sweet of them to offer me. 😄
We’re going on a.... golf ball hunt! 🌲🏌️♀️
Double tap if you love making up games when you go on adventures with your kids? 🙌🏻 If you caught my stories over the weekend you saw that we explored the community we're praying to build in. We've been going back and forth between a few lots, so while trying to finalize our lot choice, (and keep the kids entertained) we made up a scavenger hunt! ✨ TO WIN: find a green leaf, a pine cone, and a golf ball! 🍃🥰 •••
The kids had so much fun running through the trees and onto the golf course as they collected 'treasures'. Meanwhile Ryan and I finallllyyyy came to a decision! Success all around! Swipe right to see the winner AND the view from our new backyard❤️❤️❤️
Paris, France - Bonjour! I’m so excited to be back in Paris in a month with my bestie for her birthday 🎂 If you could spend your birthday in any city, where would you go? •
January 11, 2020 - Finally made it to the top of my hike, the upper Tama Lake with Mount Ngauruhoe, aka Mount Doom, in the background. I have never seen such a rich, vibrant blue before in nature until these lakes. These crater lakes are extremely blue due to their pristine condition of being untouched.

The North River blessed us with some snow and rain this weekend. It added a little bit of flavor to the hike and made finding camp a lot more satisfying. I don’t think I’ve ever started a fire that quick. All it took was being uncomfortably cold and wet 🤦🏻♂️ I was proud of how we set up camp this time. Quick and efficient. Definitely getting better at this. #isekaioutdoors #x100s
#throwback to Paris last summer! We spent the day lounging in the palace gardens and then eating McDonald’s for dinner. It’s called balance, y’all! 🤪😆 Traveling with three kids isn’t always easy, but it’s so worth it. We’re excited to start planning our next adventure! ✈️🌍 #Paris#sweetsummertime
