Even when our sanctuary is at capacity for rescues, we’re working behind the scenes to help place farm animals in safe, forever homes.
This little gal was the sole survivor of an electrical outage that killed over 1,000 others just like her. 💔
We’ve placed this adorable survivor in a home near Chicago, and her new family has named her, “Faith the Miracle Pig” Follow along with her adventures! ➡️ @faith.the.miracle.pig.

Your “food” fought for their life and left this world screaming.
How can we ever find peace if we fill our bodies with the products of violence and suffering?
I’ll stop posting this sign when it’s no longer relevant.

The hardest part of bearing witness is not being able to exercise any of my instincts.
All of my being compels me to run towards the innocent pigs being transported to their deaths, as fast and as hard as I can.
Every nerve-ending in my body tells me to stand in front of each truck, preventing them from entering the killing factory.
My heart tells me to rip open the back gate and physically comfort the trembling beings inside.
Everything that I am wants to jump into the driver seat and drive them straight to sanctuary, to safety.
I’m often called “extreme” for organizing and attending vigils at killing factories... you only know the half of it.
I wonder if you’d consider my actions extreme if you or your loved ones were trapped in these trucks?
I’d fight for you too.

One year ago with my BFF, Fern. 💕
Fern and I have matching tattoos. She was given her tattoo because she was born into this world to become a “breeding sow.” Had she not escaped her fate, Fern would’ve spent her life giving birth to litter after litter of babies.
She would’ve spent the four months of each pregnancy in a gestation crate, confined so intensely she wouldn’t have had enough room to turn around. (Imagine being stuck on an airplane in business class... for the rest of your life.)
After giving birth, she would’ve nursed her babies through the bars of her farrowing crate, unable to stand up for nearly a month at a time. After her babies were just a few weeks old, they would’ve been taken from her to be fattened up— so humans could eat them.
After she gave birth so many times that her body could no longer keep up with the desired birth rate for maximum profits, she would’ve been killed. She would have been lowered into a gas chamber— if humans believed she could still make a profit. If not, her body would’ve just been dumped in a “dead pile” or a dumpster.
I’m so thankful to know Fern. Ace made a stencil of her tattoo, and now I have the same one behind my ear. She’ll always be with me, as I fight for the liberation of her brothers and sisters, and all others like her. No one deserves the life Fern was meant to have, no matter their species.

This is bacon.
This is sausage.
This is ham.
This is the life that we choose for them.
My favorite meal that I used to eat every night before bed was a huge ham and cheese sandwich. Piled high with the works. To fuel my addiction, I would buy a 1/2 pound of smoked maple ham every three days from the grocery store next to my house.
What I never took the time to think about was the being who suffered immeasurably because of my decisions. Because of my ignorance.
However, once I saw their suffering, I knew that it was my time to change and more importantly, my time to fight for them.
No form of pleasure, nor taste, nor preference, nor desire, can excuse harming these beautiful creatures. These mothers are locked in these gestation crates for up to three months. Can you imagine that? Forced behind steel bars, unable to turn around for your entire pregnancy, birth, and raising your children without being able to look them in the eyes. Without being able to nuzzle them. It’s a fate like we quite literally can’t imagine. And yet it is what they live through every day.
We take everything from these animals. We take their freedom. We take their children. We take their lives.
But, we can change. Not only do we have the ability, but we have the duty.
Be one more person not harming animals. Go vegan and get active. Use your voice. Together, we will save them.

💥TRAINING TO BE FINISHED THIS WEEK💥 ⛔APRIL 1ST ATSU GOES INTO ACTION⛔
Credit’s Due Where Credit is Due:
[recovering from a 2x fractured 🦴 femur] I’d gained a lot of pounds and baggage, having been told by my medical team I had to consume animals to “get well”; I gave up my plant based lifestyle I’d lived since pre-2010 & traded it in for false comfort.
I met Grey, 4 ages ago. A curious, lovely lil nymph at a mere 7 months into going vegan, contrasting my years of being plant-based.
It started off small, cooking together, because he was laughably bad. And did not understand why we shouldn’t eat potatoes raw (still doesn’t, to be frank) “Ci, how do you know all this vegan and nooch lingo if you’re not?” He asked while the coconut curry we simmered turned to a rolling boil. “Well, I grew up that way. My mom accepted my veganism and funded my groceries so long as I cooked. I’ve been doing that since middle school.” G: “Oh...My mom packed our lunch until my first day of Cal Poly”
& so our plant based enthusiasm began that day many springs ago.
And now, at 24, I feel like it’ll never leave us.
Thanks, Grey-with-no-SM, for bringing me back home. Happy 🥳 birthday.
