  • ✨Over the past few weeks, I had found myself being extra self-critical...
.
✨I had been spending too much time in front of the mirror, too much time analyzing photos, too much time beating myself up for what I hadn’t yet accomplished or wishing I could change certain things about my past.
.
✨The hubs had caught onto my “stinking thinking” because I can be really good at speaking exactly what’s on my mind. #nofilter 🙈
.
✨Dusty reminded me—we’ve got a bigger mission now, outside of ourselves, as new parents. What kind of language do I want Max to grow up hearing? What kind of behavior do I want him to believe is normal and acceptable?
.
✨If we could only choose to see ourselves through God’s eyes, through our partner’s eyes, through our children’s eyes, maybe we could learn to love ourselves more readily.
.
✨I’m really great at giving my love to Max and Dusty, but I forget sometimes, that love is a two way street. Not only is it important to give love, but to accept love, as well...and that sometimes takes even MORE guts!
.
✨I don't know what's more difficult, to accept love from others, or to accept loving myself. What do you find more difficult?
.
✨Have you ever felt yourself shrugging off a compliment, turning down a kind word, finding it difficult to say I love you back, or cringing when you get a hug? What about your relationship with yourself? Have you ever looked in the mirror and thought something negative? Have you ever beaten yourself for not doing something 'good enough?' Have you ever complained about your insecurities to somebody else? ✔️✔️✔️All of the above. #guilty
.
✨I actually vowed on Valentine’s Day, after a meltdown, to stop giving voice to the negative. That doesn’t mean that the thoughts aren’t there, but the first step is to quit giving them oxygen—because oxygen fuels fire.
.
✨Next step to lasting change—focusing on thought and word replacement—for every negative, a positive in its place. Wish me luck!
.
✨Which is more difficult for you? Accepting that you are worthy of love from someone else? or from yourself?
.
#selflove

  • Went to the gym early this morning (well, early for me) for the first workout of the week: a chest, shoulder & tricep workout. Didn’t take any pics so have a selfie from the other week 🤪 Want to try record more of my workouts and post them on here. We’ll see 👀

  • How to properly pre-game for @veganchillfest: loaded pizza & nachos. 🍕🌮👏🏻
Yep, it’s kind of like that saying, “when in Rome”; when you’re in Austin, going ALL IN on the fancy vegan food is a MUST. 🌱🤙🏻
So tonight, I stopped by @lilnonnas to snag one of their incredibly artisan and colorful pizzas, complete with a @curcumakitchen-infused almond ricotta cheese, edible flowers, and @picklemyfancyferments’s blue kraut. #pizzaofmydreams 💕🌸🍕😭
THENNN we rode over to @themissionburrito to get in on their soft opening to try their nachos ft none other than Austin’s finest, @credofoods. 🧀Yes, they were oh-so delicious with allll the right flavor. **pro tip: get a mix of their carne asada + pollo asada for a solid smoky/meaty combo on top. 👌🏻 Alright @veganchillfest, my stomach is ready. 😋👏🏻🍴

  • Today I present to you a Middle Eastern dish called Kibbeh. Do you remember my tabbouleh salad? Well, it's made with the same main ingredient called bulgar, a type of cereal widely used in Middle Eastern dishes. Kibbeh is usually deep fried, but I made a healthier version by simply baking it. It's a really filling and nutritious snack, mixed with ground beef, onions and spices. Hope you enjoy and have a great weekend. Recipe in bio -> @neys.journey

  • Back in ancient times, herbal medicines were utilized for the common treatment of illnesses and injuries. Now, in modern times we are being pumped with drugs and losing awareness of how easily accessible these herbs are. Lactuca virosa or wild lettuce is an organic remedy that is grown in England and North America, which makes it easy to access.
Wild Lettuce is a natural remedy that has been found to have #sedative and pain-relieving benefits. Wild lettuce is linked to being a muscle relaxer and calms anxiety, even insomnia. This wonderful #herb calms and relaxes muscles to aid with many other issues like: stress-induced indigestion, cramps and spasms, #Insomnia, Restlessness and Coughs.

Drinking tea with wild lettuce can even work to prevent these problems above. Drink it daily!

#Wildlettuce has been linked to relieving #muscle pains, #menstrualcramps, and other inflamed body tissue. Its been nicknamed opium lettuce because of its similar numbing effects to opiates, yet it isn’t habit-forming or a threat to your health. So, if you choose to consume the leaves, you’ll be safe to do so.
Use dried leaves to receive the most medical benefits. Leaves are best harvested in July-August. There ate also dried versions you can get if you don’t have some in your backyard. It changes its color based on the changes in season, which means this is a biennial plant.

The plant could either have just leaves or a yellow flower and grow up to about 7 feet. There hasn’t been enough research to find what is a safe dose, about a 2-4ml tincture about three times a day, or 1-2 teaspoons of dried leaves in boiling water to blend the nutrients into the water. Consume this drink about 3 times a day.

  • Haters say they hate you but in reality they love you. Let's a dedicate a post to haters, they're not haters. They're actually your biggest supporters.
😂 They claim to dislike you, but they help your page grow by leaving likes and hate comments. All of it is helping me in the end. Someone liking a comment telling me to kill myself is helping my page grow.
💪🏾 Haters love and appreciate you because you're doing what they're not willing to do, and that's making a difference. Doing things differently, being open minded, and spreading truth on the horrors of the meat, dairy, and egg industries, as well as other forms of animal cruelty. It's 2020, there's absolutely no reason why humans can't sustain themselves based off only plant foods. The USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) did a study saying that 70% of all soy grown in the U.S. is fed to animals that we breed for consumption. So when you eat animals, you not only support animal cruelty, but world hunger as well. Because we could feed our population 3 times over if we ate only plant based.
💯
In the end, people who hate on someone just because they're more open minded than them, are weak people. DM me if you're ready to stop supporting animal cruelty, I can send you a 22 day vegan support link🌱💪🏾

  • Happiness, like all things, comes in waves.

In the ocean I am most present, fully in the moment. There is no pondering of past or the future. Something about the force of the sea holds me fully accountable to the here and now. Maybe that’s what I love about it so much. Feeling enwrapped and held by such a divine ancient element is so entrancing; I forget my age and my life. In contrast to the ocean, it’s like I feel how small and insignificant I am, but at the same time how impactful and connected to the entire universe I am; simultaneously.

The ocean is my happy place, for certain. I’m curious, what’s your happy place?

  • And just like that, my head is back where it needs to be 🥳 I secretly (or maybe obviously, lol) look forward to bench day every week. It has frustrated the crap out of me but I have never been scared of it. It is my place, my home, MY bench.
I always get a little crazy, a little jerky, and a little emotional coming into a meet and this prep has seen the worst of it. Thank you for putting up with my crazy, #sweattshop and for standing by me with all these gross feelings 😉 I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be ❣️
My confidence was sky high today, and I will ride that into the Arnold. Let’s go.

My confidence was sky high today, and I will ride that into the Arnold. Let’s go.

  • This is Rose being an angry birdrito!
.
She has bumblefoot, a common foot infection many species are susceptible to. Cornish Crosses and other birds bred for slaughter are particularly prone to it because their substantial weight means more pressure on their delicate feet, making it easier to get small abrasions that can then become infected. I monitor frequently for it and treat as needed. Currently, Rose is getting foot soaks followed by wrappings with a topical antibiotic. She should be fully healed soon. And for such an active person, for Rose being held in my lap for the wrapping is the worst part of the process!
.
Animal liberation doesn't stop at the moment of rescue! Routine and appropriate medical care for LIFE is a crucial part of giving other animals the lives they deserve.

  • You can take advantage of the health benefits of #Hemp is several ways. For example, you can use Hemp flour to make desserts like cookies and cakes. It so happens that hemp seed flour is #glutenfree as well. Or, you could also add the seeds themselves to you smoothies, on top of your #vegan yogurt or add it to your granola and other cereals.
Rich in Gamma Linolenic-acid. GLA are necessary for the production of prostaglandins (hormone like chemicals that work to help smooth muscles regulate #body temperature, internal inflammation, body weight, #diabetes and hormonal imbalances.

Rich in polysaturated acidic fats. More importantly Hemp seed oil has an ideal balance of the acidic fats Omega-3 and Omega-6. This ideal proportion helps fight against heart disease and other cardiovascular disorders.

Great for the #skin. Containing powerful antioxidants to fight against premature #aging, Hemp seed oil is a great daily moisturizer as it can penetrate the deep layers of the skin, providing deep hydration. Hemp seed oil also contains properties that can fight against sun damage and #acne.

Overall, adding hemp seeds and Hemp seed oil to your diet is smart way to maintain both internal and external youthfulness and overall health. Easy to use and not particularly expensive, Hemp seeds can and should be re-considered by American consumers.

  • Jo survived a lifetime at a dairy farm but she’s now safe. I can’t say enough what a horror show dairy is... I know it’s the easiest thing in the world to support it and never have to think about what it’s doing to cows and other beings (through environmental destruction) but please stop and think. What we do to cows is heartbreaking and immoral. Jo, however, is pure magic.

  • There can be a lot of common misconceptions around vegan fashion and the alternatives to animal-derived materials.
“Aren’t synthetics bad for the planet?”
“Isn’t vegan leather made from plastic?”
“Aren’t animal materials more natural?”
.
I will admit, I’ve asked some of the same questions myself. Though I will always choose the vegan option, I have wondered whether synthetic alternatives like pleather and faux fur are any better from a sustainability point of view.
.
The truth is, animal skins are far from being natural, apart from when they’re worn by their original owner. As soon as the animal is killed, a very unnatural process begins. Pelts are treated with a cocktail of harsh chemicals to prevent them from biodegrading, which harms the environment, the health of the workers and even potentially the wearer.
The 2017 Pulse of Fashion Industry Report found cow leather to be the most polluting fabric in the industry, closely followed by silk and wool was in fourth place. Of course vegan alternatives like nylon, acrylic and polyester also featured in the list, but the animal materials placed much higher due to the environmental cost of raising all those animals for human use.
.
Though some pleather is made from polyurethane, a type of plastic, there are now many new types of leather alternatives made from natural, biodegradable and sustainable materials such as apple pulp, pineapple leaves, mushrooms and cork. Piñatex is a new leather-like material made from pineapple leaf fibres, which has been used by Hugo Boss, Trussardi and H&M. And Italian Brand @orangefiberbrand are making a sustainable vegan silk alternative from orange peel, which is pretty amazing. 👏🏻
.
Help the planet, help the animals and help your wardrobe. Choose vegan. ✌🏻🧥👗👞
