@stripe_imadeyourclothes .
.

  • Meet the people who make your shoes! We're proud to work with a female-led team based in Houjie, China, to create our animal-friendly shoes. Swipe through to meet our production team.

1. Meet Tracy, she oversees production for TWOOBS. Tracy has been part of the TWOOBS family since the very beginning (almost 5 years!) and has helped the brand become what it is today. Her favorite place to holiday is Tibet.

2. Meet Julie, she owns and runs the company that oversees manufacturing of TWOOBS. Julie is super insightful and our founders Jess and Stef love getting to sit down with her and soak up her wisdmon. Julie loves to travel to America to study English and learn about their culture.

3. Meet Zhangwan Bo, he works in our family-run factory in Houjie stitching uppers (which is a fancy name for the straps) for TWOOBS. He loves to keep super active - mostly enjoying running and going to the gym.

4. Meet Haojunyia, he works in our factory, cutting and stitches uppers the straps for TWOOBS. He has a big love for animals, and a real soft spot for cats and dogs.

5. Meet Cary, she sources material for TWOOBS. She also happens to be Julie's niece. She totally loved to eat vegetables and does a lot of reading in her spare time.

6. Meet Chenheyou, she works in our factory gluing the uppers to the outsoles (aka the bases) for TWOOBS. She loves eating apples!

7. Meet Chengwen Fa, he works in our factory attaching the outsoles for TWOOBS, and putting them through a strong testing process. He has two beautiful kids; a boy and a girl.

On the 6th anniversary of the Rana Plaza collapse in Bangladesh, the fashion industry still has a long way to go in achieving transparency. This week, we're participating in Fashion Revolution Week @fash_rev by showcasing some of the incredible people who take part in the production of TWOOBS. Stay tuned for more footage captured by our founders Jess and Stef on one of their recent trips to China!

Reposted from @carrysomers - Today, #EarthDay, marks the start of #FashionRevolution week 2019. 💚💚💚💚💚 To kick off our week of activism and change, Fashion Revolution is declaring a Climate Emergency. Today we have signed the @UNFCCC's Fashion Industry Charter for #ClimateAction “Global Climate Action” is an agreement for fashion brands, media outlets, suppliers, retailers and all other fashion stakeholders to urgently take action in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement.
The science is clear, climate breakdown is happening fast - and the fashion system is a major contributor to global carbon emissions, pollution, water contamination, mass extinction and so many other elements that hinder a healthy planet.
As an organisation, we pledge to do our part to address fashion’s footprint, both in the way clothing is produced, and the collective fashion consumption patterns of our Fashion Revolution community.
If we are to really address the magnitude of fashion’s impact, we must remember that the most sustainable clothing is that which we already own. By extending the lifecycle of our garments by 9 months, we would reduce carbon, waste, and water footprints by 20 - 30%. This Fashion Revolution week, it’s as important to ask #WhoMadeMyClothes as it is to remember that #LovedClothesLast. Follow our week of activation over at @fash_rev - #regrann

  • Okayyy so asking some brands that i wore today #whomademyclothes - i suspect some will know and others wont. So to the brands tagged in the photo id like to know: who made my clothes? Were they paid a fair wage and given a safe workplace? What are the environmental impacts of my clothes? How much information are you WILLING to share about your supply chain? Lets go! #fashionrevolutionweek2019

.
#whomademyclothes

  • It’s @fash_rev week, and a great time to reflect on your sartorial habits (side note: remember 2007 when ‘sartorial’ was the buzzword every fashion writer—myself included—loved to over use?). This week, refrain from buying new clothes. Take some time to appreciate what you already have. Take a little bit more time to reach out to a brand that Could Do Better and ask them to be more transparent, more sustainable, and more committed to upholding basic human rights in supply chains.
There’s a lot to be said for armchair activism, but #fashionrevolutionweek is changing the industry, and last year I wrote at length on the topic for my Masters. Where the law is unable to manage (especially when it comes to business and human rights, and transnational supply chains), engaged digital citizens can be a force for change. The Fashion Revolution annual Transparency Report, for instance, is putting pressure on brands to pay attention. And #whomademyclothes is putting the onus on consumers to ask more questions, and make better choices.

Next week, on Wednesday, April 24th, we will remember the lives of those lost in the Rana Plaza tragedy six years ago. As always, this day will be a moment to reflect on what the fashion industry has destroyed in its wake, and use this energy to demand change.
On this day we will also publish the 4th annual FASHION TRANSPARENCY INDEX. This year’s Index will review the world’s largest 200 fashion brands and retailers, many of which have taken considerable steps towards transparency this year. @SarahDitty, Policy Director and report author says, “The progress we are seeing this year, coupled with the feedback Fashion Revolution has received from brands, suggests that inclusion in the Fashion Transparency Index has motivated major fashion brands to be more transparent.” Yet, the publication will also outline how much work is yet to be done, with some brands reviewed this year receiving a total score of 0 out of 250 possible points.
Finally, the report outlines what citizens can do to add their voice to the revolutionary call for greater transparency, shining a light on the power of the question, #WhoMadeMyClothes?
Which brands are you eager to see reviewed in the index? Let us know in the comments, and ask them, #WhoMadeMyClothes?

  • ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY – we don’t want our clothes to destroy the planet! 👉 Fashion Revolution Week not only calls brands to be transparent about #whomakesmyclothes, but also about the impact on the environment of all the processes involved in our supply chain. 👉 It is safe to say the Alpaca fibre that we utilise in our products is one of the most sustainable fibres in the world. Alpacas have little impact on their natural environment and are one of the most eco-friendly of all animals. From farming the animals, to the shearing of their fleece, to the processing and dying of the fibre and crafting of the finished products, Alpaca is a highly sustainable fibre with minimal environmental impact. La Sierra is proud of these qualities. 👉 However, we are less proud of the carbon footprint involved in transporting our goods from South America to Australia AND the carbon emissions involved in travelling to visit our suppliers. We have investigated some carbon offset schemes to neutralise this impact but have yet to find something we can commit to. Recommendations welcome!

  • It’s day 1 of #makersforfashrev today, when we ask #whomademyclothes ⁣
⁣
This is an awesome opportunity to think about the impact of our clothes (include our me-mades) on people as the planet 🌍 and there are some really interesting conversations going on (check out the hashtag).⁣
⁣
One of the reasons I started my sewing journey was to take a step back from fast fashion consumption. However, just because #imakemyclothes doesn’t mean that I no longer need to think about the impact of what I wear. Fashion has a massive impact on the environment and each garment I make increases my carbon footprint. My aim is to slow down my production output and select my fabrics more carefully. I’m in no way perfect, but I’m going to try. ⁣
⁣
The most sustainable clothing is the stuff we already own, remember that #lovedclotheslast 💚#earthday #fashionrevolution #sewistsofinstagram check out @inthefolds for prompts

  • It's Fashion Revolution Week!
👖👗👙👘👚🧥🧤👠
Happy #earthday too! What a perfect opportunity to reflect on the clothing industry and our own impacts on the environment and each other- both as businesses AND as individuals.
▪️
This is the Fashion Revolution Manifesto- @fash_rev was started on the 24th April 2013- as a direct response to the Rana Plaza collapse, which killed 1138 people who were there making our clothes.
▪️
Fashion Revolution is not about feeling guilty about wanting to buy fashion. It's about questioning where your clothes come from, choosing to buy from ethical companies who pay their workers properly and don't use practices that destroy our environment.
▪️
I'm reposting the Manifesto here, from @orsoladecastro - one of the founders of FR. A force of a human and a constant inspiration. ❤️💜💚
▪️ Lady Rebellion is based on these principles. Making gorgeous clothes that actually fit has been one of my passions for as long as I can remember and I pledge to do that in the most ethical and sustainable way that I humanly can. I will be transparent about my practices and I will always be answerable- not just to my customers, but to our beautiful planet and the awesome creatures that live here alongside us. ▪️
We are currently a teeny tiny company- it's mostly me and a few awesome people who work on bits and pieces here and there (like tech stuff-*snort*). The plan is to grow slowly, carefully and for the long haul- you can't effect change if you burn out 💪
▪️
So, if you read this far- well done!! Have a read of the Manifesto and let us know what YOU feel inspired to change about your own fashion habits.
I'll be back through the week with ways you can join in on #fashionrevolution
▪️

  • It’s just the beginning of this week #fashionrevolutionweek2019 However this should be an everyday topic. I make it part of my daily life, try to educate others and really do think everyone should be asking the questions and making lifestyle change. Lots more posts coming from me this week ✌🏼

Today, #EarthDay, marks the start of #FashionRevolution week 2019. 💚💚💚💚💚 To kick off our week of activism and change, Fashion Revolution is declaring a Climate Emergency.

  • Talking to Jensen about #fashionrevolutionweek and who makes his clothes; Maxomorra, Duns, Frugi, Piccalilly, Raspberry Republic and Little Green Radicals. I asked him which brand is his favourite and he has a good long think about it, umming and arrring, some more umming and arring, before screaming "!!!BABIPUR!!!!" 😂😂😂
He can't pick a favourite, but he knows they all come in the same box, an elephant taped one 😂🐘❤️ #babipurchallenge #whomademyclothes

  • Fashion Revolution week kicks off today in over 100 countries around the globe! What's Fashion Revolution? It's a not-for-profit global movement that campaigns for systemic reform of the fashion industry with a focus on the need for greater transparency in the fashion supply chain.
_
Here at Biji-biji Ethical Fashion, we stan for ethical and sustainable practices in our production line. Did you know that our products are manufactured in-house, from design to production, by employees who are paid a fair wage in a safe working environment.
_
It's time for change in the fashion industry - ask yourself "who made my clothes?" and the answer may shock you.

Quem faz as minhas roupas?

#fashionrevolution #fashionrevolutionportugal #fashionrevolutionweek @fash_rev @fash_revportugal

  • @fash_rev Fashion Revolution is a global movement triggered from the collapsed of Rana Plaza in Dhaka, Blangadesh in 2013, with death toll of 1,134 factory workers, and injured more than 2,500. It is considered the deadliest garment factory accident in history. .

Days before the accident, workers have feedback to their managers about the cracks but were forced back to work as they were rushing the festive seasons orders. All in the name of cheap, fast and disposable fashion. .

We can love fashion but no one should die making clothes for us. Fashion can be made in a more sustainable and ethical manner, with dignity.

Join the movement.

  • Today is the start of #FashionRevolutionWeek
10 years ago, I wouldn’t be caught dead wearing the same outfit twice and used to buy cheap clothes every week! It was only about 2 years ago that I realised how dumb I was, what a terrible impact the fashion industry has on the planet and on humans & that someone else is paying #thetruecost of what I wear. I’m far from perfect when it comes to shopping but I’m challenging myself to wear my current favourite jeans every single day this week. You can read more about @fash_rev on their instagram or at #whomademyclothes p.s. what do you think of this thrifted top I got for €5? #sustainablefashion doesn’t have to cost the earth ♥️🌍

  • 🌏 HAPPY EARTH DAY 🌍
🐝 this year’s campaign is all about protecting endangered species, from bees to coral reefs and everything in between.
🌿 but if we don’t protect our planet, neither we nor the animals will have anywhere to live in the future. for me, trying to lessen my impact on the environment - and subsequently its human and non-human inhabitants - is the primary motivation for every step i take towards a more ethical lifestyle.
✨ today happens to coincide with the first day of #fashionrevolution week, which seeks to demand transparency and positive change from fast fashion brands with the aim of eradicating the mistreatment of garment factory workers worldwide. it’s a cause that means a great deal to me, so I’ll be sharing tips and information over on my stories this week!
⚡️one way to do better by the environment is to lessen your engagement with the wasteful, polluting fashion industry by buying less, and shopping secondhand. this dress is one of my favourite charity shop finds, picked up at traid in brixton for a fraction of what its original sellers, &other stories, would likely have sold it for.
🙌🏼 here’s to a peaceful, positive earth day and fashion revolution week, all. be open to radical progress and change! •

  • Miela Designroom osallistuu Vaatevallankumoukseen!

Tomorrow is the sixth anniversary of the Rana Plaza building collapse, when more than thousand workers died.
The Fashion Revolution movement was created in response to that terrible accident, by Carry Somers and Orsola de Castro, with the intention to change the textile industry trend, asking for more transparency in the whole chain.

We need to know where our clothes are made, how and who made them, in what conditions… And we have the right to ask about it.

  • It's Fashion Revolution week again! A good time to think about where your clothes come from and the working conditions of the people that are making them. And just in case you were wondering, I cut and sew errrrything for Katie Makes A Dress. Generally powered by coffee, Netflix and swear words.

  • Important words on an important day from @fash_rev - Today, #EarthDay, marks the start of #FashionRevolution week 2019.

  • Here's one of the lovely weaving families in Madhya Pradesh, India, who create our artisan made textiles. 💫 For our current collection, we collaborated with a wonderful social enterprise @kala_swaraj_foundation that connects regional makers with brands like us, stimulating the economies of smaller communities, and preventing artisans from needing to seek work in larger cities and being separated from their families. #whomademyclothes #fashionrevolution

  • The Fashion Revolution Week begins today. The Fashion Revolution is about sprouting a dialog between producers and consumers about transparency in supply chain and bringing the 'actual' maker or in our case weaver to the front stage.

As creators of handwoven textiles, weaver welfare has always been our key ideology and objective. In each product you buy, you will find the weaver's name on the tag, thereby putting them in the front row. But, this Fashion Revolution Week, we are moving one step ahead, and sharing with you some incredibly inspiring life stories of our weavers, narrated by themselves.
So stay tuned to meet our first weaver today.

  • Tomorrow is the start of Fashion Revolution Week and marks the 6th anniversary of the Rana Plaza disaster in Bangladesh in which 1138 workers died and many more were injured due to the collapse of the garment factory building they were working in.
@fash_rev is a global movement calling for greater transparency in the fashion industry. A movement that wants to see a radical change in the way that clothing is produced, sourced and consumed so that fashion is cleaner, safer and fairer for everybody and the environment too.
This is something that is really important to us and has been paramount in the way Trapeze Kids has been created, so all week to support this cause, we’ll be bringing you stories and details of some of the brands we work with and why and hope to inspire you to ask some of the same questions of the other brands and stores you shop with too because knowledge is power! 💪
