Reflection shots are the best! Especially in Yosemite National Park. What do you think?

I’ll admit, I often catch myself doubting if I can achieve a task in front of me. A shaky log over a creek crossing, a sun-cupped snow ridge, or most commonly, a granite mountain standing on the other side of my comfort zone. “Can I make it over that?”, I ask myself. Naturally, I hesitate when coming across these challenges, but then I remember that if I didn’t feel the desire to tackle these, I wouldn’t have left home in the first place. I go outdoors to transcend the comfort of the concrete jungle and to figure what I CAN do. Because the reality is, you don’t know what you can accomplish until you actually friggin’ go for it.
Here’s the beautiful Harvest Moon, shot during our balmy September heatwave. I’ve been previsualizing this shot for years and I’m so happy it all finally came together! As the moon rose, a coyote chorus started up in the distance, joining the music of the buoy bells just offshore. Hoooooowl indeed! 🌕🌆🌉🐺
“Who made the world?
Who made the swan, and the black bear?
Who made the grasshopper?
This grasshopper, I mean--
the one who has flung herself out of the grass,
the one who is eating sugar out of my hand,
who is moving her jaws back and forth instead of up and down --
who is gazing around with her enormous and complicated eyes.
Now she lifts her pale forearms and thoroughly washes her face.
Now she snaps her wings open, and floats away.
I don't know exactly what a prayer is.
I do know how to pay attention, how to fall down
into the grass, how to kneel in the grass,
how to be idle and blessed, how to stroll through the fields
which is what I have been doing all day.
Tell me, what else should I have done?
Doesn't everything die at last, and too soon?
Tell me, what is it you plan to do
With your one wild and precious life?”
The Summer Day
Back from the mountains
I‘m back from my second hike of the John Muir Trail; about 260 miles in 28 days of nothing but sunshine and epic landscapes in the Sierra. Got a ton of pics to go through, so it might take a moment until I can start posting them, stay tuned.
As a teaser, here‘s a shot from the top of Clouds Rest on our last day. My friend Mark @iceclimber55 caught me runnning around with the camera.
One more time for 9-16 day ⚡️
With my favorite little golden bridge. I love this town!

I have a question ⚠️ If money was not an issue, where is your dream place to live⁉️ .
I ask Mike this question at least once a week! And yet, I have no idea my answer! I love Palm Springs a lot🌴! But if money and careers didn’t play a role in this choice I think I would really like to live in New York City 🌃 for a year or maybe over looking the ocean in Laguna Beach 🏖 ! Or maybe I would summer in Portland, ME 🦞 and winter in Palm Springs 🌵 ( because Palm Springs in the late fall is magical, 75 degrees, no wind. Perfect! ). Where would you call home? •
