loving every second spent in the enteral city - Roma! the chaotic cobblestone streets, incredible architecture, and of course - THE FOOD - have stolen my heart. Until further notice, assume that I'd always rather be in Italy 🇮🇹❤️ •

  • There are hundreds of reasons why I drink Champagne, but the NUMBER 1 reason is because it pairs SO great with just about anything that is salty! My three favorite champagne pairings are French fries, just about any fish, and pizza! Try one of these pairings yourself and I promise you won’t be disappointed! •

  • Am I ready for sweater weather? Yes. Am I ready to say goodbye to summer? No! The struggle is real. Fall, I’m ready for ya, please be mild and stick around awhile before the first snow fall.🍁🍂
➰
This @voskeni_wines red wine is helping me get in the mood for the season change. I was a little nervous, maybe even skeptical at how good this wine might be, as I’ve never had an Armenian wine before. Happy to report it was very enjoyable.🍷Earthiness and herbaceous notes take the lead on this one. Black currant, eucalyptus and spice stand out while the dark fruits and minerality mingle without showing off too much. Dry and tannic with a pepper finish, be sure to give this one plenty of time to open up. #voskeniwines #arenigrape #seasonchange

  • This elegant bottle of Château Capbern 2015 from Left Bank Bordeaux St-Estèphe is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 28% Merlot and 4% Petit Verdot. I felt like I was smelling a green forest floor when I took the first sniff.🌲It was loaded with ripe black berries, black cherries, black currant leaves, cedar, smoke, cigar box, cocoa, violets. The acidity was medium balanced with smooth ripe medium tannins, medium alcohol. The flavour intensity and length are both spot on! This bottle is definitely cellar-worthy. 💫

But pairing fall items with summer items is at least helping me not feel like I’m missing out on fall completely ❤️ happy Monday everyone! It’s going to be a good week!

  • Harvest is in full swing here in wine country ✨ Did you know that wineries pick their grapes either late at night OR early in the morning? This prevents vineyard crews from working in the hot sun and gives winemakers better control over the fermentation process, in addition to saving energy when cooling the fruit down upon arrival at the winery #themoreyouknow #harvest2019

  • I am back friends! And I have some exciting news for ya’ll! ✨✨✨
And what is a better way to celebrate great moments in life than with chocolate and a bottle of bubbly? 🍾🍫 So while you are waiting for the news, let me share with you my love for the VERY DRY and VERY BUBBLY Prosecco. 🥂

I am all about trying new exciting wines and lately decided to try more organic wines. Sooo was so awesome to receive this gorgeous bubbly gift from Vigna Preziosa.🍾🎁 @vigna.preziosa
Mouthfeel was super fruity and crispy, with pleasant acidity and citrus notes – just the way I love my Prosecco. 🤩🥂I actually love to pair my sparkling with dark chocolate, so for me this was an awesome thing to discover it pairs well with orange peel chocolate (I guess the citrus saved it!) 🍫🥂 If you are thinking of some Prosecco that would go well with some light dishes or snacks, try to find this one.

And look at the bottle, it would be a total eye pleaser in your collection too, right?

How are your September discoveries, wine friends?

  • We’re in the Old World today with a late-ripening, heat and drought resistant #mysterygrape that is starting to pop up in new places because of climate change.
.
Was a little tricky today starting with the first map clue so no one has been able to nail it yet after the first batch. But I think once you get through all the clues you’ll see the method to my madness. :p
.
It’s anyone’s game so get your answers in quick.

  • This 2017 Santa Rita Hills @pegasuswines Chardonnay pairs equally well with salmon, a vegetarian plate, and a sunset! 🌅
.
Aged 11 months in 17% New French Oak, this has just enough oak influence without being oaky. Light to medium bodied and well balanced - it’s a super friendly Chardonnay.

  • If you know Brunello you probably know Biondi Santi; Montalcino can trace its existence back to Ferrucio Biondi-Santi. After Ferrucio's death in 1917, his son Tancredi continued the line of succession and carried on the family tradition of producing outstanding wine. So how does this relate to Le Chiuse? ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Tancredi had a son and daughter, Franco and Fiorella, and he split the lands between his two children. Fiorella didn't want to be involved in the day-to-day, so she rented her properties to her brother Franco. Franco continued to use the property to make the wines of Biondi-Santi. Then Fiorella’s daughter, Simonetta, decided she wanted to make wine. It seems Simonetta Valiani inherited from her grandfather a love of the land and a passion for making wine. In 1992 she produced her own Brunello and called the winery Le Chiuse.

Visita e degustação na Bodega Colomé
.
.
Vinhos degustados:
.
• Lote Especial Malbec 1700 metros 2017
• Lote Especial Malbec 2300 metros 2018
• Lote Especial Malbec 2600 metros 2017
• Estate Malbec Blend de alturas 2017

  • the worst thing is when you buy a bottle of wine and end up not loving it, right? I urge you to take the time to read the label - when you make some sort of connection I promise it will just enhance your overall experience & you’ll continue to figure out what exactly you like!

above was one of the first red wines I enjoyed in the Okanagan Valley, after reading the label I discovered @exnihilovineyards in latin means “out of nothing” and this particular wine “night” was named after complexity the nighttime brought to their vineyards 🤓

  • Taking this David Bowie lyric on #HarvestMoon by @goncwinery as my thirties mantra. 🤟🏻⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Over the weekend, I celebrated my 30th 🎂(...part one of the celebration) with my best friend, and I may have treated us to some stellar bottles, but this skin contact Pinot Grigio was the 💫 . When I grabbed this bottle at @baccoswineandcheese in July, I had a feeling it’d be enjoyed this weekend, with this friend. 🥳💃🏼⁣⁣
⁣⁣
The 🍇 were harvested on May 10, 2017 during a full moon, which coincidentally is the color of the wine—JK that’s on purpose! @goncwinery let’s nature take its course with long skin maceration (42 days, bottled at 18 months) and no sulfites, when it’s time to bottle the color matches the 🌕 . ⁣⁣

The complexity of this brilliant amber wine left so much to look for with each sip. On the nose, it smelled like a fortified red and small batch 🥃 . At first taste, it feels like a medium red, but thins out to present peppery caramel with bursts of grilled grapefruit bringing a beautiful balancing act between the wines acidy and its tannins. Do not let this bottle never meet your lips if you see it. A grand ode to traditional ⁣⁣

  • My wine of the weekend - Kung Fu Girl Riesling! (somehow still managed to have a few despite intending to be extra-disciplined and super focused on Diploma revision all weekend) 🤓
Putting my personal failings aside, I have to say I LOVED this wine. I’ve got a bit of a thing about Riesling - I both love drinking it and love opening people’s eyes to the fact that this poor old, much-maligned grape variety isn’t the weird sweet stuff of the 80s that you think it is, but can create the most beautifully dry, refreshing and fruity of wines! (It’s actually an aromatic variety with characteristics relatively similar to those of Sauvignon Blanc!) Mmm. Mouthwatering. 🍾
Anyway, back to Kung Fu Girl. This is a particularly cool wine, hailing as it does from America’s Washington State - made by Charles Smith, former rock band manager and born-again winemaker, this wine was produced with the intention of matching with Asian food. Whilst I managed to resist the temptation of a Chinese takeaway, what I can tell you is that this wine was GREAT. 🇺🇸 Good dry Riesling balances acidity and freshness with lovely fresh fruit aromas, and this did just that - the acidity was present but not overpowering, actually feeling wonderfully soft on the palate with a fabulous peachiness that for a moment hints at a touch of sweetness before tangy lime zest kicks in.
10/10, will definitely drink again - and thank you to @no.14stamford for the tip! (Also loving the über-cool label) 🍑🍋
