  • We had such a lovely day @jumpingamsterdam thanks to everyone who visited us and special thanks to @ponytail_co for having us! ❤️ We revealed our new name FIVIQUE (pronounced as fieviek, a combination of five and unique) and shirts, what do you think?
I’m really looking forward to more fun times with this great group of friends ✨

The other thing that has been released at Jumping Amsterdam is a new addition to Storm’s modeling career, @lisasruitershop ‘s glitter spray featuring a picture by @mabelbohms_photography ! 🦄

  • I’m posting about both of these amazing horses today because Tess and Sioux each blew me away!!
~
I’ve been teaching Sioux the “down” cue to help her relax during a stressful situation. Being an abused rescue, she has just cause for many of her fears. One of them is the vet, who is coming out in 2 weeks for vaccinations. To help prepare her, I’m introducing her to things that were once scary to her and forming positive associations. She’s becoming more brave all the time!
~
Today, we had a man she didn’t know approach her. This is one of the things that would normally send her running. She worked through it all gloriously, though! Sioux remembered the “down” cue and displayed calming signals throughout the ordeal. She walked away once but came back of her own accord. So so proud of her!!
~
Tessa and I had such a pleasant trail ride today. She started trotting of her own accord and was such a happy girl. Some of her friends were wandering the property so she was thrilled to be with them (which I used to my advantage). I DID discover that the treats bounce out of the pouch at a trot, which is what you’re hearing in the video😂
~
Such odd weather this week! Monday was nice. Tuesday it snowed. Wednesday was super cold and windy. From Thursday on it’s been in the 40s-50s and sunny again. I’m not complaining with the spring weather!

  • There's nothing better than a good canter on the trail...unless it is horse clothes! 😎 Barbie has many blankets but this is a 20 year old Baker's sheet that has been passed down through many horses - I am not really sure how it fit a 18hd thoroughbred and then fits little 15.2hd her but she's a lot bigger than she looks. (On a note, I was stupid and forgot to wear my helmet. Don't be like me kids, always wear your helmets!) #alaskahorses #quarterhorse #arabianhorse #palaminohorse #winterhorse

  • I read a remarkable fantasy series over the Christmas holidays. There is a horse in it that I loved so much, I HAD to paint him! Here is Solovey, from the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden. These novels completely pulled me in, I cried actual tears reading them, which is saying something because that has only happened once before with a book. I loved spending time with this gentle giant this past month in the quiet hours of the night. 🐎🎨
