😵 Incredible playing of the Liebermann concerto by Eimear McGeown🌟👏 via @eimearflute 🌟 I think I’m the only classical flautist who taps their foot!!!! 🙈🤭😅😂 So lovely to be invited to play with UYO, who I actually played with while pianist Barry Douglas was the soloist! Rehearsals for tonight’s concert...
Welcome back to another Woman Crush Wednesday, where we feature women who have crushed it in the music industry. Today we feature clarinet queen Jan Halloran! 👑
Jan holds the position of principal clarinet with Boston Lyric Opera and regularly appears with many of Boston’s preeminent ensembles, including Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Odyssey Opera, Boston Philharmonic, and Emmanuel Music. In addition to these groups, she is highly in demand as an orchestral musician throughout New England. She has been a member of the Portland Symphony Orchestra's clarinet section since 1993, spends summers with Opera North, Boston Midsummer Opera, and Monadnock Music, and performs with the Rhode Island Philharmonic.
As a chamber musician, Halloran was a founding member of the New England Reed Trio, with whom she performed, recorded, and commissioned dozens of new works for oboe, clarinet, and bassoon. As part of their mission to enhance the reed trio repertoire and share it with audiences, the trio appeared frequently on WGBH Radio, where they introduced their commissioned works as well as prize winners from their annual composition competition. She has also been a guest artist with the Walden Chamber Players, Radius Ensemble, South Coast Chamber Music Society, and Classicopia. She has been on the faculty of Dartmouth College since 2007, and also maintains a private teaching studio.
Yas, Jan! We are so inspired to hear you kicking ass and taking names in SO many ensembles in New England! 😱 Let us know what you think of Jan in the comments below! 👇🏽✨🎶
And one more bass because you can never have enough bass!

It's been a while, everyone! I have so much content to go through from this whole summer, and plan on posting much more. Here is series of random instruments that I photographed at various gigs. I just thought they looked neat. 😊
Всем привет! ✨

I’m off to @justfluteslondon this morning so thought I’d share something a little different.
It’s no secret in the workshop that I’m a serial hoarder of scrap wood, as I’m passionate about trying to use everything I can!
It’s also no secret that I love to make personal projects if I get a chance, so put the two together and you get a few unique items for my own home as well as friends and family 🙂
This is my latest home project, a basic key rack for the kitchen.
Our previous key rack wasn’t just boring but also allowed the keys to hang below the board meaning they scratched the wall 🙁
As I painted the walls this summer I thought I’d make something new 😊
Made from English Walnut, Purpleheart (with sapwood), Tiger Oak and Walnut again.
My favourite piece I found in my pile was the Purple Heart with a slither of sapwood along one side. I had enough length to cut it in half to make a feature by gluing the sapwood parts facing one another also giving me two Purpleheart stripes for the price of one 😁💜
Okay, aside from immediately fired from the first note, here's some Mozart at a brisk tempo. Still lots of work to do, but I'm getting there. Considering this was my first crack at this spot in a long time, I'm pleased with the progress that voicing exercises and etudes have done without ever touching Mozart. Always focusing on phrasing. It's actually kind of nice to not have the metronome blaring at me constantly - I can hear more music.
I was sitting on my couch tonight just chilling with my roommates when I realized that on Tuesday night a year ago, I was in the ER being informed that I was going to be tested for MS and that I would be admitted to the hospital as a result. The next morning I was informed that I thankfully did not have MS, but I had carpal tunnel. 🎶
It’s been a long year. Carpal tunnel is gone but in its place is tendinitis and I’m still slowly healing from that. I feel like I’m 100% on the upswing now, but oh wow it’s been a long year. And yet it’s been a good one. I lost a lot of my neuroticism and maybe got a little too laidback about life (always striving for balance lol). I discovered that I really like writing music. And I rediscovered that have other interests outside of music. 🎶
If life were a mountain, then I just climbed a very steep part of it. I definitely skinned my knees along the way, and I definitely didn’t always see a path. But now I think I’ve reached a plateau where I can rest for a hot sec and look back and appreciate the difficulties and blessings that came with that steep part. 🎶
This is a clip of me just playing around with the Gounod/Bach Ave Maria. I wouldn’t have done this a year ago, because I didn’t think I was capable of playing something without it already being totally and completely written out for me. 🎶
The Yamaha YCL-255 is the perfect start for young clarinet students. Made from durable ABS resin they are easy to handle, moreover thanks to the adjustable thumb-rest and improved strap ring, they are now more comfortable to play.

After many many many years not playing this instrument, I get a chance to show off my hidden talent in Penang Philharmonic Chamber Choir gathering night.
Is a very short song about love song in the sunset. 晚霞中的戀歌。
Hope you guys like it
