  • Take your focus off the negatives. It doesn’t mean they’ll go away, but I promise they‘ll quiet down. And when they quiet down, you’ll be able to shift your focus to the positives buried in your burdens. I pray for help today with putting these words into action.

  • Ya’ll, my brilliant cousin @maliacatherine has a gorgeous blog called “Medicine of the Moment” where she shares stories + moments as a form of medicine. She shares her own + she shares the words of others who move in the creative space.

Yesterday, my guest post for Medicine of the Moment came out. It’s called “Nurturing the Self to Nurture the Whole.” If you want to find out more about my story + the work I do... use the 🔗 in my bio to read the post or visit medicineofthement.com.

Don’t forget to read some of the other interviews + stories as well. They will inspire you!

  • Technically, this challenge says "what cliches do you love," so here are a few of my favorites. The evil overlord, reluctant hero, the mentor, and the powerful artifact are all cliches that I enjoy.

The evil overlord is an archetype that I enjoy in other's work more than my own. I usually go for villains a bit more out of the box but I still love reading a good E.O.

As far as the reluctant hero, every hero should be reluctant to some degree. If he's running around saying, hey look at me, i'm a hero, what you have actually created is a mobile douche. Nuff said.

The mentor is a classic archetype who helps the hero adjust to the new world or environment in which he finds himself. The mentor can take many forms. Obi wan Kenobi is one of my favorites. Lenny Kilterslim is my mentor character in Metällion and he's quite a handful!

The powerful artifact is a McGuffin that can be utilized in any number of ways which is why it's so versatile. We see it in fiction over and over.

In my WIP, Metällion, im using the reluctant hero, mentor, and powerful artifact cliches. The villain is not an evil overlord, however. He's kind of a doofus with a ginormous ego and trouble letting go of the past.

What are your favorite cliches?
