I thought I was going to feel like laying around the house to write, but I woke up today craving good coffee, jazzy music, and coziness, so I headed off to @nastanislavskogo (my favourite cafe in Kyiv) to study how Tolkien does friendship and do my words for the week.
Either be thrown into unnecessary forgotten seconds or into an exclusive file of eternity – my eyes watch. Gasping through my mouth, was it for another memory formed or for my breath was short of the sacrifices I had overcome to get to the bottom of seas?
Eyes scanning the sole reason I had agreed to face fears, the colours of the unseen.
I searched for the colours of the unseen in the deep blues to cure my blindness of colour.
Bright hues beckoned me to converge with its endless charms. The colours of the unseen, why unseen at all? Whilst flaunting of retrieved cut colours was fantasized, why did they thrive in a sphere where others watching was of main concern?
Were we special enough to have undiscovered floors? Or were we stupid enough to believe that they were for us and mortal greed?
Were they reserved for those who choked on our irresponsibility for us? If they hid from us, weren’t the colours’ wishes to be but granted – of peace?
A lot of people on Instagram nowadays adopt the title storyteller and everyone just seems to be writing their captions with stories. I once read up to four consecutive posts that began with, Let me tell you a story and magically, I leaned in a bit.
I read the stories, some were cool but I was disappointed at the end of the others. Jumping onto a trend and not properly using it can lead to trouble. People are not going to believe you next time or people are going to scroll down your supposed story to see the real thing you wanted to say.
Some of the stories were not told properly, some had little to do with the eventual outcome of the post but one was beautifully written and keeps the author at the top of my Instagram. The man knows how to manoeuvre well. We already know his story is leading somewhere and we await it, but we are happy to read the story because it is not some unwanted moral lesson. It actually speaks of a need and answers our question. It successfully appeals to our emotion.
So do that with storytelling. Don't be lame, dishonest or totally off point.
If you don't have a story, just post your thing in two lines. We would even appreciate the brevity. But please the ending of your story must always be better than its beginning.
