This is me just working on a lil’ Slow Flow sequence for Friday’s Class at @cab_movement at 5:30pm ⠀⠀
This is recorded at 6x the speed. I teach a slow flow class so we can focus on the journey of getting from one pose to the other, and dial into our alignment in each pose, creating and noticing the different sensations in our body that arose as we hold a pose for 3-5 breaths.

One of the MYTHS is that you have to be flexible to practice Yoga.. I hear this a lot from beginners who would like to come to my sessions... If you are not flexible, is the exact reason why you should be practicing Yoga, to increase your flexibility.

We are thrilled to announce we have new teacher here at the Yoga Room! Please join me in welcoming Kelsey Welch to our Yoga Room family.
Kelsey is an international yoga instructor who studied in India. She enjoys encouraging students to find a playfulness and flow in their practice. She is a self proclaimed anatomy nerd though so everything is very well thought out, encouraging a fun and safe practice.
She also loves surfing, volleyball, snowblading (mini skis), rollerblading, solving riddles. She was in the math club in college, Dart League member as well! She loves learning new things and embracing the awkward feeling of being a beginner! She is even switching over from skiing to snowboarding this spring, so don't laugh at her when she falls trying to get off the lift 😂😂!
Kelsey will be teaching Hatha Flow from 9:00-10:15 AM on a Thursday mornings, starting tomorrow!!! Go say hi and welcome her to The Yoga Room!

🌾Have you tried firefly or tittibhasana pose only to land on your booty? This video will help you stop that from happening. With time you'll feel lifted and strong in your arm balance! Note that firefly is similar to straight arm crow pose EXCEPT legs are straight. This means engagement of inner thighs and hamstring flexibility is critical🌾
❤Good warm up poses:
Standing forward fold with wide legs
Bound angle pose
Crow pose and try to straighten arms
Scale pose with crossed legs (not lotus) and push arms straight ❤

1. Setting up this pose is crucial. The higher you get legs on arms the better. Higher up means you'll have more of a shelf to sit your hips on and they'll be less likely to slip during the pose. But this requires openness in hips, low back and legs. If you are tight here, keep practicing and they will open up.
2. When straightening the legs, people often forget to simultaneously lift the hips. So the hips stay close to the ground. Hips are center of gravity so they will pull you down as legs go up (Like a see saw). To avoid this, practice touching feet to floor by shifting weight forward. Your hips will lift. When hips are parallel to ground, then straighten arms and legs simultaneously.
3. Other things that can help you find this pose are to: (a) SQUEEZE legs to arms when straightening legs and arms. (b) Also pulling in your stomach and hollowing out your upper back will help you lift. (c) Finally, simultaneously straighten arms and legs. This is less work for the arms than straightening them sequentially. 🌱
