“When you are inspired by some great purpose, some extraordinary projects, all your thoughts break their bonds:
your mind transcend limitations, your consciousness expands in every direction and you find yourself in a new, great, wonderful world. Dormant forces, faculties and talents become alive and you discover yourself to be a greater person by far than you ever dreamed yourself to be” Patanjali
Just wanted to share this words with you ... ☺️🕉 May we be always in tune with the source that makes us keep moving forward with joy, faith, gratitud and creativity.
So much gratitud 🙏🏽

What was your Easter Bank Holiday weekend like? 😎
If you’re organised like me, you may be a fan of the ole to do list at work and outside of work. But by Sunday night, I was done with the to do list, I just wanted to switch off and just ‘be’ rather than ‘do, do, do!’
How did I make the switch?
I journaled and I also tapped into my yoga teacher’s thoughts - Rashpal Ji. I got a perspective on what’s important right now in this very present moment. I went back to my dreams for my year ahead, if something on the to do list wasn’t supporting my higher purpose, it got reprioritised for another time. 👏🏽
So this quote right here that I discovered thanks to my yoga teacher @yogaforserenity_anj really resonated these last few days as I softened and surrendered to what I see as my ‘real work’ and ‘purpose’ this year. I therefore gave myself a day to do things that give me joy like reading, colouring and napping during the day!
Take time out to surrender my dear friends...I’ll be exploring this in our yoga practise as well as on the blog in the future

NEW CLASS, NEW TEACHER!
Before heading home from work, make a stop at the studio to shake off the work cobwebs with @despina_ades!
Arrived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania earlier today for a short business trip and I’m loving all the bridges on the drive in from the airport😍
There are a total of 446 throughout the city which seems like a reasonable amount to earn it the title of “the city of bridges”🌉
As per Yoga Sutra, 2.38,
"By one established in continence, vigor is gained."
Brahmacharya is often translated as ‘celibacy’. Traditionally, ‘Brahmacharya’ was meant to encourage those involved in the practice of yoga to conserve their sexual energy, in favour of using that energy to further progress along the Yogic path.
However, the practice of Brahmacharya or ‘right use of energy’ as it is widely translated, is more prevalent now than ever. .
Regarding Brahmacharya as ‘right use of energy’ leads us to consider how we actually use and direct our energy. Brahmacharya evokes a sense of directing our energy away from external desires – you know, those pleasures which seem great at the time but are ultimately fleeting – and instead, towards finding peace and happiness within ourselves. .
•Brahmacharya in every-day life: How do you use your energy?•
Right now there seems to be an over-emphasis on how ‘busy’ we should all be – that busy is better – and that if you’re not busy, there’s something wrong. The point is, whether we’re constantly ‘busy’ or not, doesn’t matter - it’s whether what we’re doing is worthwhile. Filling our schedule with as much as we can may seem impressive on the outside, but when it comes to how this makes us feel on the inside, it doesn’t leave much space to breathe. .
Brahmacharya encourages right use of energy, so if your energy levels are flagging at the moment, consider whether your daily tasks are draining you of your vitality. Could you find a way to take a few moments a day to just stop and breathe and find a little peace?
This ability to slow down will not only allow your body and mind to take a much-needed break, but you’ll be much more aware of how you’ve been using your energy that day.

Our beautiful speaker @cfpuleo will talk about anxiety and body image!
She will lead us into a kundalini yoga meditation!
See how Kundalini Yoga can change your life!
This is my friend, Jill.
Like myself, she struggles with chronic back issues and has turned to yoga for relief.
We share a love of sunshine, and summertime.

She’s a painter, and a smiler, and a mom.
When we are together you will always find us laughing about the stupidest things, or just about anything really!
BRAMACHARYA - Right use of energy
I much prefer this definition of this Yama, than the more traditional translation as "celibacy" or "chastity". In our modern-day world, there are so many things, people, events that drain us of our energy. We often find ourselves being caught up in so many things that take up most of our day and leave us in the evening feeling unhappy and questioning what we are doing.
I believe that the single most important thing in order to use our energy properly is to be intentional in all our actions. This is far from easy, since it requires constant presence in what we are doing. But being intentional allows us to give purpose to our life and to make as feel as if everything we do is helping to nurture us in some way. This doesn't mean that we have to be productive all the time or that we have to see the benefits of the action this second... far from it! It just means that whatever we do, we feel in tune with ourselves. We feel in tune with our truth and with the person we want to be.
Using our energy in the right way also comes into play when we talk about relationships. Sometimes we may engage with people who unknowingly drain us of our energy. We might not even realise it is happening, but we find ourselves moving further away from our true being. We begin feeling trapped and constrained because we're not expressing ourselves freely. When you realise that is happening, it is time to reevaluate how you are using your energy.
Our energy is something precious and we should try hard not to use it for something that isn't serving us.
So today, it's all about checking in with ourselves and asking: how am I using my energy? What are the situations in which I could be using it in a way that serves me better?

Why are we so scared of the word “celibacy”? Why this aversion to use it — why this need to mask it, to avoid it, to sweep it under the rug just because it’s something that we don’t agree with, or that we can’t believe someone would even consider? .
Arriving to what is probably the most controversial concept of all yamas and niyamas, today is day 4 of #yamasniyamas4growth and we’re taking a close look at #brahmacharya — celibacy.
Now let’s begin by putting things in context: celibacy is actually a common practice in religious and devotional traditions all around the world, and even in #Islam , while celibacy itself is not encouraged, there are several rules around the concept of lawful sex, and it is included as one of the acts that we abstain from while fasting during the highly spiritual month of Ramadan. So where’s the scandal when it comes to even consider this concept in our lives? .
In the yoga tradition particularly, stemming from the idea that the word Brahmacharya would etymologically refer to “the path of Brahma”, the purpose of celibacy was that of keeping one’s consciousness focused on God, preserving the energy for one’s spiritual endeavors. It deeply involved the control of the senses so as to not get lost in material and physical pleasures — and therefore this is why, in the modern day and age, it can often be explained and interpreted as moderation in everything we do, as excess (no matter it’s nature) can very easily derail one from their path. .
⭐️Today we’re presenting a hip opener to work on #svadisthana chakra, which is the one responsible for a human being’s sexuality, sensuality and creativity.

Benefits of energy conservation:
1. Reduce Living Expenses:
Saving energy usually reduces living expenses. When the public consumes less fuel or electricity, decreasing demand causes prices to drop. Additionally, most equipment lasts longer if people use it less frequently. This reduces spending on car, computer, air conditioner and kitchen appliance repairs.
2. Benefits the Environment & Protects Wildlife:
Less consumption benefits the environment and protects wildlife. It decreases direct air pollution from machinery, vehicles and power stations. Conservation also reduces the number of harmful extraction projects and related spills. Coal mining and nuclear power accidents have caused serious harm to the environment.
3. Less Power Plants:
If the public conserves electricity, utilities will not have to build as many power plants. These facilities are often unsightly, generate considerable amounts of noise and create safety hazards for nearby residents. Even wind turbines produce noise and kill birds that inadvertently fly into them.
