My name is Mark’Quest Ajoku. I am a first year PhD student studying epidemiology at the University of Memphis. I am from Ellenwood, GA. I received my BA in Biology from Columbus State University and I went onto complete my MPH from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University. I also completed an additional masters in Biomedical Sciences from Troy University. My research interests include cardiovascular disease among minority populations, congenital heart disease, maternal and child health, and mental health. Currently, I have a manuscript in preparation that explores the influence of maternal factors on the incidence of congenital heart defects. One of my goals is to inspire and encourage youth to be the best version of themselves everyday regardless of any obstacles they may encounter. One of my favorite quotes is by Mark Twain.
