🥦𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗸𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝘃𝗲𝗴𝗴𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱? 🥒Checked out @chefjoseandres’ first ever fast casual restaurant concept in Chitown and happy to report that it was absolutely veggielicious. @beefsteakveggies specializes in warm veggie bowls, soups, salads, and plant-based burgers. I am a big fan of the Faux Joe Burger (think sloppy joes but so much better). It’s made with plant-based protein, veggies, Chilorio sauce, avocado, pickled red onions, and chipotle mayo on a olive oil brioche bun. It tasted so “meaty” and flavorful that I had no idea that there was no meat in it. We could not stop eating the Kimchi-Wa veggie bowl which was filled with sweet potatoes, edamame, kimchi, scallions, corn nuts, garlic yoghurt sauce, and soy ginger dressing on a bed of white rice. There’s also optional meatier toppings like salt-cured salmon, chicken sausage, or a poached egg if you want. Make sure to order their house-made juices, classic gazpacho, and José Andrés Potato Chips to go with your meal. I am so happy that we have another healthy and tasty lunch option in the city.

The first pic shows Jiānbǐng, a Chinese savory crisp-fried crêpe that is all about bold contrasts of flavor and texture: "eggs, spread over the surface of the wheat and mung bean flour pancake as it cooks. Crunchy puffed strips of fried wonton. A jumble of grassy cilantro, peppery scallions, and tangy pickles; a sweet and spicy layer of hoisin and chili sauces". 🤤
Every Jianbing is freshly made upon order on a circular cast-iron grill like a French Crepe. The batter and fillings used in jianbing differ by region, and even by vendor.👌 .
